Lost Carafe

9"x12' pen and ink drawings that were not related to each other but turned out quite suitable for this triptych. This is Summer from the Seasons Series.

Aaaahhh! I am mentally exhausted from my work week and have to do my cleaning and laundry chores this weekend, so there will be no drawing or painting for me. I had to search my files for something that will work for Illustration Friday's prompt - LOST.

Okay, so here it is. These women love to collect Fiesta dishes. One day a burglar went to their respective homes and stole their precious collectible carafes, the first Post 86 productions.  They reported it to the police, of course, but the investigation had to be put on hold because of budget cuts to the city's police force due to a financial crisis. The overall poor economic conditions and the rising costs of pensions and retirement benefits for local government workers may compel the city to file for bankruptcy.

Well, these women are friends, you see, and they decided to take matters into their own hands and find the stolen carafes and perhaps make a citizen's arrest. These women have black belts in karate and one  of them used to be a marine and another is a bonsai artist. As for the occupation of the two other women, I don't have that information. The women were told by Bernice, the manicurist from the nail salon that the burglar was seen running towards the creek just outside town and may live in that area.

The women decided to meet in front of the dry cleaner's store and jog sixteen miles towards the creek. Yes, they are very fit and healthy. Well, it has been a very hot summer and even though a man driving in a truck offered them a lift, they refused because the man had no front teeth and that frightened one of the women named Caleche' who I later found out is a piano teacher, a mime and an emergency and trauma nurse.

By the time they got to the creek, they were so tired, hot and thirsty that they decided to take a dip in the cool stream. Caleche' was so tired she decided to take a nap. They have not found the carafes yet, but they are close. Can you find the carafes?

Oh! The fourth woman, I found out is a children's book illustrator and is married to the CEO of the tea company. I also found out that the bonsai artist filed for divorce from her husband after she caught him in bed with Bernice's cousin Olivia who is a pastry and donut designer. Yes, Virginia, there is such an occupation.

Stay cool!

Ces my dear, I too am having the same trouble adjusting to the loss of my confidante and rock that I could always rely on. Peter is going downhill at a rate of knots and will have to be put into a secure facility as soon as possible since my health is developing large fissures . . . I have no Idea where I am going, I have the quarterly tax and well as annual to do and my mind feels like pea soup. Writing comments is a strain and even posting is a chore rather than a joy.
Please don't overstrain yourself with your work. I feel you are burying yourself too deeply in it. Go swim in your flooded garden or at least jump into a few puddles. I love you to bits . . . Tsup . . . Arija

Oh I am looking, you know, I am looking. The thing that strikes me is that the woman was a piano teacher and yet she was afraid of a man with no teeth, there seems to be Jungian connection there between the teeth and the piano keys (Im not gunna say ivories), but maybe his teeth had been played too much......

I have dreams of eating a peanut butter sandwich and when I am finished I dream that the crunch bits in my mouth weren't the peanut butter, but my teeth... :)

Ah, what a triptych, what an intricate story line.
I am lost in the commotion and detail, and cannot locate the carafes.
A donut designer?
Enjoy this weekend . . . time to stay cool, and put the pen down.
:-)

Oh, my goodness, and they are doing all of this investigating in the nude !?! I think you have been taking story telling lessons from Andrew ;) I absolutely love it! Hmmmm, maybe I should become a doughnut designer instead of an illustrator ;) Take a rest and get lost in your thoughts for a few days. (((hugs)))

TSUP!!!

These drawings are amazing! I wonder how long it takes you to do one with such amazing detail. My jaw always drops when I see your drawings.

Aaaw, thank you. maybe 5 days and drawing 8 staggered hours a day mostly in the evening and at night.

Hehehehe. Yes! It was so hot and they did not have swimming suits. :)

What an awful dream, that is a nightmare. You know, I had the same dreams when I was a kid!!! except I was really chewing my baby teeth. I had so many teeth dreams/nightmares. ugh.

Aaaah, I love the density of the forest. Love the triptych and the story that goes along with it. It could make for a very entertaining movie. I remember conversations we had about Caleche with Renee and it makes me smile. Happy cleaning, dear Ces. Tsup!

I am ceaselessly amazed by your talents Ces...both as an artist and a writer. I like the story...it sounds like the start of a book....I love the illustration...but cannot find the carafes...probably because I don't want to...I like to be lazy when looking and enjoying artwork and often miss the point...but I'm OK with that because it allows me to drift away into a different world.

Hahaha, so hilarious! I just love the way you wrote that, as if information was coming to you about this breaking story as you went along. (I didn't mean breaking story - I hope no carafes will be broken!) I have a close friend who collects Fiesta dishes so that made it extra funny. Just beautiful with the contrasts and spectacular detail. I hope the housework isn't too terribly burdensome!
(OH! I had bad teeth dreams, too. They all fell out. Horrible! So glad that's in the past.)

These naked women relaxing after a 16 mile run reminds me of a dumb dream I have occasionally: I'm on campus and I'm running to my class because I'm late for a final I haven't studied for, I also forgot to wear clothes.

So... why are manhole covers round? That's a good piece of trivia I need to know.

What a saga from someone who is mentally exhausted! I suppose if it had been an easy week you'd have turned out a complete novel & a few epic poems. ;-)

I love the idea that a bonsai artist is somehow especially well-equipped to nab a thief! Perhaps she is a stealth-pruner of sticky fingers & other offending appendages. I wouldn't blame her for practicing her craft on her husband... given his shameful weakness for sweet treats between meals.

Just looking at the flowing water & majestic trees in your image is restoring my spirits after an emotionally draining weekend... I'm too brain-dead now to search for carafes, but the detective-nymphs are such lovely graceful creatures, yet full of ferocity & determination. I shall try to channel their indomitable energy for the weak to come!
