The Vaticinating Moon

The Vaticinating Moon

Moon!

Oh you vaticinating moon!

You boast of your prophesying powers,

You impostor!

You wretched fake seer!

You were wrong,

So wrong!

But I shall not curse you

For your moonbeam

Illuminated my way

When I so much needed

Light during my darkest moments

And taught me

To be a true and loyal friend

Before I could find one.

The Vaticinating Moon is one in a series. Each oil painting is on a 30"x40" gallery stretched canvas.

I dare not breathe or move or let out even the teensiest squeal of delight for fear of disturbing her moment. The texture in the tree, the soft glow upon the landscape. Let me just sit here and soak it all in for a while. This is tranquility at its most beautiful. This series is beyond words!

Thank you my dearest Bella Sinclair! This series would not be possible if not for the inspiration and the encouragement that I receive from my best friend whose own artistic and intellectual endeavors are something to behold and admire. So it just rubs in, what can I say, I am so suggestible if I let myself be? :)

I like her pyjamas!

Dearest Ces, the whole painting is like a prayer, like a communion between the woman and the tree with the moon as witness. I love how both the woman's hand and the tree root seem to be reaching for the red pitcher. And to see the whole series together is breathtaking! Love, Silke

Wonderful symmetry, wonderful colours and juxtapositions, this woman is magical. Thanks Ces.

Oh, Ces! I am speechless. Well, not entirely, because I am going to say I love this, and your use of color to create mood blows my mind!!! And I hope you get this post, because Blogger won't let me do anything today...it is embedding html code into my new post and eating comments. Bad Blogger! I will look at your amazing painting to calm myself. xoxo Pam

i just have no idea when you're here or not! :D
this series is masterful ces!
The Vaticinating Moon reminds me of one of Princes of Darkness (it's a 'prince' i know, im just saying), it's like the mastery of the earth.

did you read my spam comments about the award?

Ces said...

I am here my lovely witch. Hmn I need to read and respond to all my comments for the past two eeks. I am taking a day off just to respond and visit everyone. First of to th ekingdom on Tar Ling Gua, right that is your witchdom?

Well in my case a week becomes an eek if I procrastinate.

Ces said...

Okay, I have to get to work. Tsup!

Thank you all nymphs, witch, sisterfriends, muse for your comments. I shall see you at your blogs, kingdoms, realms, abodes...

The Mastery of the Earth is a section on magic.
im just saying it's like magic.

i think i flew too much xD

Ces said...

No you are too lovely to do the satanic bit. I have to spam my own blog to reply to you. How come your blog does not allow comments from me when I am riding my broom? How come it will only take my coments when I am in my cave?

Deborah said...

This is holy. Sacred. I need to take it in longer. It is your hand, your work that captures my heart. **sigh** Deb

audrey said...

Ces, there is a mystical quality about your paintings. I love that about them. I would have to say that by the light of the moon, this woman looks as though she is at peace.
Lovely paintings, Ces.

Now Ces!! I'm going to have to act like a mother hen to you. I know you're like me and paint for the joy of it but seriously? You belong in a gallery for the world to see. This piece is another exquisite example of your work. All I can say is *WOW*! It's brilliant. The colors, the feeling.... everything.

Jan said...

Gorgeous! It's like living in a prayer.

Manon Doyle said...

Ces..... you are on a roll today my sisterfriend. I think Steve E. might of called you an angel but I set him straight!!

Manon Doyle said...

Ces.... did you know that a friend of mine calls me the shedevil...lol! Seriously. I think I can be just a little devilish at times..lol. And you? You better start flapping those wings really hard so you can earn angel status..... nope... I don't hear the violins...lol!

Manon Doyle said...

Dream on, sister! I'm going to ask that Viking of yours if he thinks you're an angel..... my guess is *no*! You are probably listening to *Night Fever* because you just might have a fever and be a little delusional.
BTW.... these comments won't put extra names in the draw....lol!

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

This is beautifully other-worldly. I can't quite put words to it. If there was a painting to describe the depth of meditation in the word "Om", this would be it.
I know it makes no sense, but sadly, I can articulate no better.
Very powerful.

XXOO!!

I love your vaticinating moon booth in words and and in image. the paintings in these recent posts move me, including the pictures of you and your painting companion. I hope the dizziness eased - I hope you get some ventilation, fans, or take breaks for those brain cells of yours! The prices we pay for the love of art :)

Manon Doyle said...

Awe, Ces!! You are my little devil, supplyaholic, huge FPOT, amazing artist, and amazing twin sisterfriend. Btw.... the list goes on and on.

Just wanted to sneak in here a minute and let you know I WAS playing my violin this evening, off and on. Mostly on.

Good night all.....Old men need their 4 hours every night--of sleep, I mean--grin!

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........

Ces said...

Goodnight Steve. I play the violin too except there is not music just words. Hah! Thanks for stopping by.

Diana, they were so cute. they reminded me of Miss Piggy! I looked at them again and I chuckled.

Helen, thank you. it pleases me that everyone has commented so far about her calm, peace and tranquility. That is what I wanted to convey! So I hope this painting will remind me to take a deep breath and let peace reign.

Acidic but I love it anyway. I will visit each and everyone of you whom I have not visited this evening and this weekend.

Karin Bartimole said...

thank you Ces - I am in a flood free zone and even though I live on a hill it has turned to marsh land - truly amazing. I feel so badly for those folks - they've just been devastated... but today the sun is shining and the waters are receding and no rain is in the forecast! I hope you have a happy Easter!! xox K

Wow Ces, I'm a bit late to this party, but I can agree with every single sentiment already said here - this painting is just magical, her expression, the moon, the textural background and boy did you ever hit the mark with tranquility! That's the first feeling that came over me as soon as I saw this beauty - that and peace - ahhhhh.

What a wonderful series, you rock girl!

I am in love with you and this painting. It is gorgeous Ces.
Monochromatic and red splash of fiesta tickle my fancy.
...and I learned a new word (to me anyway)
I am in awe of you, sister friend!
This one deserves a museum wall.
It has one in my head. I want it to be on one in reality too, so I can go gaze upon it and sit in silence!
Love and hugs my sweet!

Bella Sinclair said...

Say WHAT? You cannot be in love with her, Marie, because I am in love with her! I will wrestle you. Thumb wrestle. I warn you...I am double jointed.

Marie S said...

OKAY!!! I am vaticinating now...
Marie loves Ces more than Bella.
LOL!!!

APRIL FOOL'S!!
I know you will always be number one Bella...so does Ces.
I really love her and that painting though!!
My thumb is broken.

Bella Sinclair said...

BAHAHAHAHA!!! Ooooh, good one, Marie. I did not see the April Fool's at first. Good thing my fingers went into to a nervous twitch and accidentally scrolled to it. Hahaha!

Aww darn. I put on my wrestling singlet and everything....

Bella Sinclair said...

I may be a fool, but I am not fooling. I am phoping for you!

Okay, I caught the words 'chocolate cake' and 'share.' That's all I need to know!

Oh Ces, what a thought-provoking title and wonderful words...I am just loving this serene piece, and juxtaposed with your lovely ladies, it is marvelous!! Thank you for visiting Monsieur - and you are most correct, not heading to a zoo, that's for sure. He is happy and I am happy..I can't wait to send him to his destination..stay tuned! : ) Have a wonderful, wonderful Easter holiday ahead!

Marie S said...

I would fight for you Ces. But Bella is itching for a fight and even though she is cute she is probably a pretty tough cookie, being a ninja and all.

Ces said...

Kaphooey, I lost my place. Thank you for your comments. Thank you very much. I'll just talk to you on your blogs.

Vaticinating Moon is gorgeous Ces!!!! So beautifully painted. Where on earth do you find the time lady. Love that black and white check and the touch of red. So magnificent! Okay feeling like crap. Going back to bed cough, cough. Bronchitis again. All is well. I just need to rest!
Love you best

OMG, Ces, you made me laugh out loud this morning with your asparagus comment!! Well, Daniel and I both have the gene and I hope that means we are very intelligent, not the other way around... I do miss the white asparagus - it's only available during asparagus season, which is also the same as strawberry season, so the two are linked in my mind. During asparagus season, we'd eat it every day, always with fresh strawberries as dessert, until the season is over a few weeks later and we had to wait until the next year. Yum!! Wishing you a most wonder-filled day!! Love, Silke

Hey Ces.. thank you buddy.. the shadow box was a new idea ,, I had fun!
To answer your question , when I am creating these birds the best moments are when I'm not thinking at all.. just singing along to some heartbreaking country song.. with hours just flying by, blissing out in the present moment.. that's when I know I'll love what I have made.. but if I start ..THINKINGe.. oh now we are in trouble! heh

thewillowsnest said...

haha.. don't worry my dear I'm already PLENTY CRAZY hehe!!
yay for days off!!! hope it's a great one!
PS .. politics are way off limits in my temple.. they are not funny at all!

Steve E said...

Ces, I really do not know you, but felt drawn back here to enjoy (almost wrote "study"--WRONG!) really
just look, see, feel, smile, wonder, and thoroughly enjoy these pieces of yours. Yes, as you suggested they are equivalent to musical achievements, violin or not.

So aside from all the "asides", I wish to sincerely thank you--a true artist--for sharing your stuff. It is sometimes even a "corporal work of mercy" to allow Peeps to see your work.

Might I sign this
"Gratefully"?

(also not an angel, but I do have several in the spirit world taking care of me--grin!)
