Come Fly With Us!!!

Dedicated to my Beloved Sisterfriend, Karin Bartimole.
Artist extraordinaire; Brave - Bold - Beautiful - Bald and Beloved; Most Worthy.
Please wish Karin the best as she fights cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Drawing transports my mind into certain stratosphere with no holds barred. This is my entry for Illustration Friday's theme - Transportation. Pigment ink on 9"x12" Bristol Board. The Magic BBB Club Transporter currently holds (L to R) Ces, Sgt-at-Arms - because I write rules for a living, steering the stalk; Bella Sinclair, Mental Ninja and Brainiac Artist (president with squirt-star medal); Deborah, The Midlife Poet (Born with beautiful blond curls) who will teach us how to dance before we can walk; Amalia, The Constant Dreamer, who draws like a dream, trying to steady Anne Huskey Lockard, The Passionate Artist, who seems like she is mooning everyone but is adjusting the BBB Club Yearbook; Silke Powers, Beautiful Eyes, who wants peace and quiet; Lakhsmita Indira, The Enigmatic Beautiful designated coifed cheerleader; Karin Bartimole, The Brave, hoisting the turbo paint brush; Vanessa Brantley Newton who is Ooh La la baking illustrations and a cake but is using the spatula to squish the spider; Caroline Soer, Truly Beautiful Baby With Hair and water-colorist supreme; Arija The Gentle Wise and Learned who knows everything about oak and poison oak and prevent us from getting contact dermatitis and Manon Doyle, The Beautiful, practicing her mountain climbing skills. If I did not include you I may just be a little embarrassed sending you this inquiry email: "This is short and quick but were you bald when you were a baby?" Please join us!!! Boys welcome but don't bring frogs and lizards. Sisterfriends are automatically welcome but I did not want to assume that you would like being called "baldie".

Come Fly With Us
Join The BBB Club Today!!!

BBB as in Beautiful Bald Babies Club. All you have to be is nice. Of course you have to have been born bald and beautiful. However, we will give exceptions if you had certain curlicues or wads of kewpie strands as long as you understand what we, genuine baldies had to endure while growing up. We were given names like "General Ike", "Baldie", "Calvolite", "Melonhead" and the dreaded "Boy". Our parents did not seem to think much of it. They did not glue silly ribbons to our bald pate to tell everyone we were girls, as if boys are automatically born bald, which they are not. At any rate, I think growing bald or kewpie, instilled and fortified us with certain inner strengths and taught us when to let go or when to beat the living crap out of your bully. The painting on the left is the 30"x40" oil on gallery stretched canvas painting of The Ivory Babies, also known as The Mud Pie Babies.

About the pen and ink drawing: I had to think of something that moves and as I looked through my illustrations I saw several drawings that would have qualified such as Renee's Gypsy Wagon Madisyn's Birthday Flight and The Sisterfriend Day Celebration. Ah it seems I have a propensity for making oak leaves fly. They don't. Oak leaves float as they fall from the tree to the ground. However, The oak leaf transport system you see above is propelled by the magic energies and spirits of its passengers, in this case the beautiful bald babies and their not so bald friends. They don't have wings and therefore have to go to sleep in order to sustain their magic flying dust levels which is gauged by the liveliness of a butterfly designated for each baby. See why they don't squish the caterpillar? That's a future baldie baby energometer. So it is imperative that members of the BBB Club encourage and support each other to maintain healthy and happy lifestyles just in case it is their turn to steer the oak leaf stalk. This transportation system is biodegradable and does not use fossil fuel, just a lot of imagination.

So come and join the BBB Club. Simply leave a comment and indicate whether you were a baldie. If you were not a baldie and still want to join, you have to be nice and be creative or play a musical instrument or be a terrific dancer, scuba diver, photographer, etc... Baby Boys are welcome. Also we have an opening for the Bug Squashier/Squishier position, but you must show restrain and not arbitrarily squash/squish any bug, just the ones crawling towards us. We will create a Yearbook and maybe ask our president to illustrate a seal, not that seal, a club seal - logo!

You are wonderful, dear sisterfriend!! Baldly yours, Silke

HAHAHAHAHA! I see a new avatar with you and your fabric art. I don't know what you have been drinking. HAHAHAHAHA! Okay, I have to step outside now. I am carrying my laptop into the carport where I will stare at a canvas on my easel.

Silke Powers said...

Hahahaha! With Anne next to me farting, thank goodness there's an updraft!! Otherwise I might faint and fall off... TSUP!!

Ces Adorio said...

HAHAHAHA! OMG! You poor Silke! BBBs don't fall, they hover and glide but Anne's fart may do it. HAHAHAHAHA!

Silke Powers said...

I'm gliding and I can't get up!! Swooosh! TSUP!

LOVE LOVE LOVE we wee flying bald bambinos!! Ohhh Ces, thank you thank you!! You did a fabulous job at whisking us up into the air with wingless wonder!!

Yes, bald I was, often compared to Winston Churchill in my early years - such a flattering look for an infant girl, triple chin and all :)

I would like to volunteer to be bug steerer awayer rather than squasher, as I adore creepy crawlers and always have. Ya never know what might turn into a beautiful butterfly or damselfly... I will lift, inspect and guide them to terrain far away from unwitting babies hands, feet, or curious mouths!!!

weeeeeeeeee off we go!!!!!!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Okay. I just finished shaving my head. One really should know their head shape BEFORE shaving. Oh well. Anything to be in YOUR club! **Kisskiss** Deb

Wait, somebody take the steering stalk. I have vertigo.

Deborah, You have a beautiful head.

Linda, thank you. Karin is great. She is a beautiful person. I am happy to have introduced her to you.

Silke, keep on gliding, staedy as you go. Tsup!

Karin, I am happy for you. I wish and pray for the best. Tsup!

Ha Ces, I have surgical implants that make me look like a BBB but I keep getting arrested - moral - don't talk to po;iceman.

Was I bald? No not yet. But I still act like a big baby...

my magic word is bitse.... hmm, too easy.

I like your drawing. You know I always like your work.

How about doing something bad for a change!!

heh

see you at the bbb club. Oh I am a great dancer! Just ask my foot. (Only one foot dancers- the other sits it our - it has gone through too much a agony over the years - being trodden on by the other foot)

You know, you put your right foot in, you put your .... right foot in again...

Ces, I wish to report an abuse on your blog...there I was, commenting peaceably on the frustrations of the myriad of places I should be right now--and here I sit commenting on your blog, "Frustrations".

Frustrated? Who, ME? M.E.??? "Well, I never..." My grandmother used to say that "Well...I never..." and she NEVER finished it! What did she "never"?

Back to my rant: ALL of the sudden, I was cut off by 'blogger', aka Ces., right in the middle of writing how wonderful ces is, Blah, Blah, Blah!

So what's a guy to do? Well, join up, fly high, grab my passport and be a member of BBB!

Qualifier: I had a Flat Top. Doctor's instrument flattened a side of my head--before you ask...YES! It IS still flat!

TSUP

I will visit with Karin....

You know, I laughed myself to tears reading this!!! Only you and Bella could come up with crazy ideas like BBB! Good thing you guys aren't bank robbers, otherwise I'd be seeing two WANTED 'baldies' on the news! Hehehee...

Anyway, thanks, Ces! I am honored that I made it to the club...

BIG HUGS to you!!! (And to Karin too!!)

I looked like a lavatory brush when I was born. However, I am an excellent - and fearless - bug killer. QED, yeah? xx

Tessa said...

Oh, most important of all - I began loving Karin from the first moment I found her beautiful blog and compelling artwork - and amd constantly sending flurries of love and healing across that sky we share.

Dance? You want DANCE? Man, I was born not bald but dancing and have never stopped since that very auspicious day...14th February Long Time Ago.

Oh, and I think Anne Huskey-Lockhard is wonderfully glam and gorgeous. Blogger is obviously enormously envious.

I am SO honored to be a member of the BBB club..though truly bald, I believe I had a bit o' peach fuzz..does that still count? I just LOVE the illustration and the entire concept from the magical babies in tights to the biodegradable transport-leaf. YOU are amazing, you know that. With Bella at the helm, we are on our way to amazing journeys of fun, good health, positive energy and bright spirits..here's to Karin, and you for the joy that you bring. Thank you dear sisterfriend for the invitation - I climb happily aboard. : )

Well, I had one curl until I was over a year old. My poor mother had to pierce my ears and put me in frilly dresses so that people would know I was a girl. My grandson took after me and I thought he'd never have any hair and when it did come in, there was that one little curl ~:) So we must both join the BBB, lol. Your posts are as much fun to read and see as Andrew's are. You both make me giggle every time I read a knew post. Beautiful work as always Ces and I will pray for Karin and am wishing her the best. Now I must go to bed, your's and Andrews blogs are keeping me up too late ;)

k.h.whitaker said...

see, I'm so tired I misspelled new and put knew instead...

Lisa Holtzman said...

How do you come up with these incredible ideas and images!!! Fantastic. I want to fly with you guys!! I was definitely a bald baby, I don't even think I had peach fuzz AND, my mom DID tape a bow to my head...how humiliating.

Thank you for the introduction to Karin, I love her art and writing and wish her good health.

Francisco Martins said...

Hey Ces, I'm in! :D
Hummm... nope, I was not a baldie - so my mom says - I always had like... LOTSSS of hair. :)

Hummm... Unlike Andrew here, I'm not a good dancer, but I can sing... sort of :P Will that do? :D

TSUP right back at ya

~i am filled with sugar and won't lie a bit of spice...but surely i think i am nice...unfortunately i was born with as you said
"curlicues" a monsterous mess of hair...really was not my fault...really! then at age two my mama chopped it all of to a pixie cut and for many years i was teased that i was no girl but a boy...so though i never endured the baldness comments some of you had i did suffer from meanness of others...a beautiful creation you two have made...i would be honored to join along!?! warm wishes and brightest blessings~
