I Think I Will Sharpen My Knives...

Storm clouds over an automobile plant in Alabama. Click to enlarge. Colored version below.

On second thought, I think I will take a nap after I post this. You know, I really have a kitchen knife collection. I have many kinds and styles; mezzaluna, ulu, santuko, binangon, machete...different types of cleavers and of course the regular sets by Henckels, Wustoff, and some F. Dick knives. I used to routinely sharpen my knives on Sundays but these days, I just sharpen each one with every use. I even sketched a self portrait on my Moleskine notebook many years ago -  sharpening knives. Seriously.

I am tired of drawing and painting, even though I am still drawing acorns and leaves just because I feel I have to continue.

Last week I received a package. Inside the package was my 25th anniversary service award gift from my employer, a 16MP camera. Seriously, do I need a 16MP camera? No, but I did not care for the other choices of clock, crystal and jewelry. My second choice was a circular saw that I thought I'd keep in my office as a trophy but my best friend advised against doing that especially that I was under a lot of stress these past several weeks.

Anyway, where am I going with this post? Oh yes, I am tired of painting and drawing so I decided I will take up photography. Perhaps I will will use my Canon XSi camera which makes me feel like a paparazzi when I set the camera to 10 shots per click. See, I don't even know the lingo.

I am such a serial project starter.

Oh, I want to share my collection of cloud photographs. That's what I am going to do. These are originally colored digital photographs that I turned to black and white because I like black and white images. Have a wonderful week. I may or may not post tomorrow.

Tsup!

I may or may not comment tomorrow. Lotta bad weather around these parts. But moving out, just like everything. Everything changes, nothing remains the same.

Except for squiggling nuts and leaves.

Knives are not fun for me unless I'm whittling. I whittle away a minute piece of tree, making tooth picks.

YOU like black and white--just as I put a colorful stained glass background on my FB page! HA! Well, gotta be "fair and balanced"!

Tomorrow....maybe--grin!

Heheheheh! There you are. Why are you asking me for someone's email address? Go ask him yourself. He is your friend. He also thinks you are my friend. Go ask directly. I cannot just give it without his permission. Send him a message. Please send me hand carved toothpicks but please do not use them first. Ick! Hahahahah!

HA! The circular saw on your work desk! YES!!! Although the image of you sharpening all of your knives is very sexy. And sinister. Serial Project Starter. I am a serial photo snapper. I think my new neighbors are already frightened by me and my zoom lens. You are witty, My Cesalicious. You make me miss Renee less. ♥♥♥ Deb

Hehehehhe. That would have been wonderful but my husband told me we already had one. Well, I did not want it for him. I wanted it for me. I elso have a hard hat at work, okay it's plastic toy hard hat. OOOOOOOOHHHH! Renee!!! I was just reading an old email from her. It said "I posted the pictures. Now start swooning."

Hahahahah!

I love Renee.
I love you too.

Tsup!

Yep, I can imagine that saw sitting on your desk in a menacing fashion. I have a collection of kitchen knives too, though not as extensive as yours and I am always afraid to sharpen them because I am too clumsy so I have my husband do it. I might damage myself, or even worse, damage the blade ;O I like black and white photos too. I used to be stuck on taking photos of my older two kids in black white. Poor Cyan, the youngest, there are very few photos of him, compared to the number of photos of the older two and only a few are black and white. Serial Project Starter, hehehe, I love that!

You have a wise friend. by the way, I can totally see this illustration as part of an animated sequence at the beginning of a horror movie. You know, when the title and the main actor's names are rolling across the screen? Have you ever seen the opening credits of "A Series of Unfortunate Events"? It reminds me of that. I think it's an utterly beautiful illustration, of course, but it invites all sorts of intriguing interpretations. As usual, I love it.

I too occasionally sharpen my wood carving knives and gouges...a recent woodwork project was actually making a wooden/leather paddle strop to sharpen the very tools that I was making it with...I also had a circular saw left to me by my woodworking Grandad... that was actually one of the ones that sat in its own table....that however was pencil sharpening overkill..and I sold it..your knives look like they are from your kitchen or an old fashioned surgery!

This is fun.
I get to see your pics, through your fancy, shmancy 16MP camera.
Get to work, lady.

Ces Adorio said...

It is not fancy at all. It is a pocket camera. Hah! but the 16MP camera files are creating huge jpeg files. Argh! I don't need a huge jpeg file of a tree or cloud or some summer vacation photo. I have a 10MP and a 12MP SLR. That is enough! I don't even know which button to push for the menu sometimes..

Thank you Cindy. Well, it is easy to express one's feelings towards another if the affection is sincere, of course you know that but Bella and I have been blogging for quite sometime and oh, she is my dearest most beloved sisterfriend.

Wow!!!! You should carve Gereard!!!! These are kitchen knives. And I fear electrical knives and saws.

True dat, sistah.

BTW, I see you like to have your hands on the belly of well fed chefs. I needs me a clock like that, hehehe.

Nice to see you too use a whetstone to sharpen your knives.
Thank you for mentioning me in one of your posts. Things have been horrendous here with granddaughter surviving (thankGod) a multiple roll-over into a paddock, stopping short of rolling into a full farm dam! All being well, the stitches at the base of her skull will come out to-morrow.
I love you so much my dear Ces. Tsup

Oh yes, it is fun to sharpen knives until the can cut through paper without much effort. I do mine by hand with an old-fashioned whetstone. Start doing it, it's fun!
