One Day Part I

Okay. I have been informed by friends who know me that my new blog Ces and Her Dishes Part II is totally uncharacteristic of me. They know me as a happy person with a positive outlook and a contagious love for life. Now they don't know how to react to my blog. I told them to just admire the illustrations but they are not taking it. They looked very sad and very concerned and they were frowning.
To all my friends: I am having fun writing about Isabella. Maybe I was a closet melancholic and decided to come out, maybe I just love drawing in black and white. Someone I love suggested that I should draw Isabella catching the biggest bass and the most number of fish in a tournament held against three men several years ago. I could do that too. Still my friends want color. I am considering these suggestions. In the meantine,
One day...
Ballpoint Pen on Moleskine Ruled Notebook
Isabella decided to stay in the new place. She told herself it was only temporary. She lived with her best friend Elizabeth and another woman named Joy. She met many other women who were very kind and wonderful to her. In no time she had many friends. The women loved to dote on her because she was the youngest...and they were curious to meet the young woman who made waves on the first day of her job! Isabella was fun to be with and was very funny. She got invited to all the dinners and parties. The women invited her to go with them wherever they went. They treated her like a younger sister and she in turn treated them like her older sisters. There were so many parties to attend and places to visit. She was absorbing life in many angles, opening her vision and her mind. She even found the strange and scary place rather quaint.
One day within a month and a half after she arrived in the place, Isabella donned her fedora and fall coat. A block from where she lived, she walked to the bank in the corner of Grand and Market streets.

Something happened and it affected her for the rest of her life.

I also miss the old posts but I admit I am intrigued by Isabella's story.

NONONONO -- you cannot be a bright and cheerful person without having a corresponding dark side. No Yang without Yin! It's a fundamental law of nature. And I see you exercising a side of you that obviously needs a little airing out because it shows a creative and tangential dimension to your personality that I haven't seen before. This is a journey and it may take you somewhere amazing so don't shut it down yet.

On the other hand, I see things differently from most people since I deeply value the very qualities/characteristics that make this all so interesting to me.

Andrea what a superb comment. I never thought of that. Of course we all have both sides and it depends on what we do when we are exercising that side of our personality. I suppose I could have opted for dark self destructive methods but I don't like pain and definitely would be worried about how I would look and that just goes to show how vain and superficial I could be.

I do miss your old blog but I love this one too as it shows another side to your personality. I think the posts and sketches are great.

Ces Adorio said...

Thanks Marie. Maybe I will have both types of posts someday.

Ces, I've been reading Isabella since the begining and absolutely love her.
I've been meaning to leave a comment but each day has gotten away from me.

No matter what you post... I am grateful that you share yourself with me! I love seeing each facet of your personality.
I've seen Isabella lurking - a quiet figure in the background but there none the less. And I love her because she is part of Ces :)

I admire you, I think you are a very brave and creative woman.
You had a great thing going with part I, you chose for new.
I'm certainly hanging on. Appreciating this new art form that is no less creative. You don't have to add colour for me.
I like it as it is.
Keep it up.
I like Andrea's comment, although I don't fully agree with her on the dark side theory.

Joy, thank you for your comment and support. I am glad you like what I am posting now. I am enjoying the pen drawings. I very seldom do these except to doodle and Isabella was a result of a doodling activity.

Pieterbie, your comment means so much. Actually, I have more bright side than dark. I really don't think Isabella is dark. She just happens to have different adventures.

Wow! These illustrations are intricately and painstakingly done!

Meljohn, I am smiling. I draw them at my leisure time, when I am waiting...

just like everyone here - I LOVE ISABELLA and her adventures! really...

Conformity is boring, at least for m.e. but then, again, if it's not fun for you anymore, you should stop... JUST DON'T HIT DELETE, ok???

i miss the old posts, too. but never mind m.e., I'm happy with whatever works for you.

Maria, you are so sweet and so supportive. I am glad you are in my company and among my favorites.

Something funny happens when you don't meet people's expectations of you. If where you are right now is in these skethces, which seem less dark to me than darkly witty, than that's where you are.

Wow, Ces, you are being more productive than ever! Looks like a part of you is evolving that is happily living out adventures. In this story all of a sudden the character reminds me of the good old Sinatra song (or Ella Fitzgerald) "The Lady is a Tramp" which I adore. So you can reckon I am becoming a strong fan of Isabella.

Ces Adorio said...

CSL thanks. I'll stay the course for now. Isabella is just being herself. She is quite normal.

Cristosova, I would be more than thrilled if you linger. Thank you.

Holy cow!! where have I been?! I haven't the time right now to read the "new you", but I will later make it a point to come back.

Just from the fast glance, I like it!! The details and I love the black and white.

Why can't you do something different? The same old stuff can sometimes be boring for the artist. Your talents are many and I am glad you are using them.

Keep doing what you like. It is your blog after all.
Once again it shows how creative you are.
I think many people are afraid of the unknown.

Ces - my dear. You seem to be spending your time justifying your decisions to your friends. You are a creative soul. Be creative and enjoy what you are doing.Perhaps we were all relying on you to inspire and brighten up our days. You were under too much pressure from us all.

Now this blog is about you being creative and experimenting. I want you to have fun.

High quality drawings, cool outfit !, looks like a modern comic book, and this new way of telling interests me very much. I wonder how this is going to evolve. Success !

I love your black and white drawings. I do not see them as "not colourful" or "dark" - it is just a different medium! I love the stories that you tell about her, as well. It seems that you could publish a book about her...
