A Mother Is Never Off Duty

Ballpoint Pen on Moleskine Ruled Notebook
POOPED
She walked all day. She just implemented a project and had to support her clients. She talked to them and answered their questions until her throat became dry. She was so tired and exhausted. When she got home she did not even take off her clothes and shoes. She just propped herself on the giant ottoman and leaned her legs and feet against the wall.
.
As she laid there she stared at the hideous wall paper. In her mind she was stripping the wall and it gave her a sense of relief. She forgot about her aching legs. She admired her well polished shoes and how it contrasted with her checkerboard trouser socks. It felt good to relax. Then she heard a voice that said "Mommy, I am hungry, what's for dinner?"

"A mother never goes off duty."

you're really such an inspiration, you're so good in what you do. sometimes, when I feel like complaining about work and stuff, I think of you. Thank you.

btw, I love the sketch (is it a sketch), I stared at it for quite a bit. :)

one last thing, it's funny you number your notebook pages, too. love it.

Maria thank you very much for your kind comments.

Oh I responded to your "shock" regarding my action on the previous posts.

Great sketch! I admire women like you Ces. Your kids are lucky to have you.

Oh Marie, what a sweet thing to say and I appreciate it especially now that I am feeling great remorse for what I have done with Ces And Her Dishes Part I.

All I can say is I am sorry and thank you to all of my blog friends who support me and keep on visiting even though I demonstrate a virtual temper tantrum now and then.

This is a bit of a change of pace for you. But I like these, too, and now I'll just have to check in here and your art blog.

Indeed it is CSL. Thanks for understanding.

coming from a sleepless night and having to get up at 5:30am to go to work, i couldn't agree with you more.

Menchie, I hear you, but they are so adorable and they just melt your heart!

I am more and more amazed by your talents. This seems to be a wonderful little notebook!

Ces Adorio said...

Thanks Sidney. It's my "catch-all" notebook: appointments, numbers, notes, recipes, schedule, etc. I doodle in it. I have had several other notebooks - I always thought the doodles were a work of an idle woman. I have a notebook full of nothing but plans for a working farm/ranch.

Hey, I didn't realise you had made such a major change. You weren't popping up on my feedreader, so I wasn't visiting here. I guess the reformatting of the blog must have wiped the XML feed or someting like that. I like this new angle, it is good to do something new from time to time.
I'll have to make sure I realign your blog in my feed reader tonight.

Thanks Pieterbie. A major change indeed. I hope it keeps up my reader's interest.
