Dinahmow and KSKlein tagged me to state seven facts about me. Seven Facts About Me. Now wait a minute. Why is a "meme" always about "me"? Why can't a meme be about what I think of the tagger? Maybe that would be more fun? Or how about what I think of the seven bloggers I will tag?
Seven Artists I am Tagging But If they Don't Want To Do A Seven Facts That's Okay:
- ValGalArt. She blogs here. What can I say about ValGal that has not already been said? She is a fabulous artist. Her creations are beautiful, wholesome and unique. She creates the best house portraits. I love the details of her artwork. I love her Marisol cards which I consider treasures. I would be delighted to receive a card designed by Val. They are fun to send to special friends and loved ones. Val loves art. She also supports artists and features them on her blog. She works with many of them and their collaborative efforts are marvelous. Her art is outstanding and she has a wonderful personality to match her creations. I have not really met Val, only through her blog but she is as lovely and beautiful as her art. I am her No.1 fan. I have been following her blog for over a year after seeing her avatar.
- Andrea Pratt. She blogs here. Andrea creates signature art that is unmistakably her. She combines colors to create fabulous conceptual paintings that tell interesting stories. I also like her black and white or black and grey illustrations. I love the details of her paintings and illustration backgrounds. Take a look at them and notice the fine strokes. She has a remarkable sense of humor and is also a terrific writer. Her posts are insightful. She is truly a thinking and creative blogger, plus she is pretty and attractive. Her former avatar a fish which was a detail of one of a series of paintings caught my attention from among many artists’ avatars early last year.
- Ascender. She blogs here. Sometimes I go to Ascender’s blog and I just say “Oh wow”. Her art is penetrating, provocative and insightful. My favorite piece is her avatar. I saw it among rows of avatar on an art blog comment section last year. Ascender creates art using different media but her most remarkable pieces are her pastel drawings. Ascender is quite elusive but I can only imagine an intense, delightfully sensitive artist who inhales the world around her and then exhales with stunning art.
- Bibi blogs here. So she does not illustrate, draw or paint but can this lady write captivating, interesting and insightful posts. I consider writers artists, in fact, mythology created the muses for writers, not painters. Bibi’s enthusiasm, humor and zest for life peek out of her blog. Blogging with her is a wholesome, pleasant and worthy experience.
- Melissa. She blogs here. Another wonderful writer. Melissa is a bona-fide lover of life. She sees the world as a beautiful, delicate, interesting environment that sets the stage for learning and living with her two gregarious and precocious daughters. Her posts are a wonderful treat and I help myself to it as often as possible. Her knowledge of flora and fauna is remarkable. I never knew anyone involved with an Iditarod until I stumbled on Melissa’s blog. Check out some of her previous posts especially about the one with the visit to the veterinarian. I could go back to that and laugh as heartily as I did the first time.
- Sidney; Hildegard and Pieterbie. So okay these are three sites. I am breaking the rule. I don’t think I can really say enough to bring due regard to these three photobloggers. Photoblogs talk about aperture, lighting, ISO and other technical details. Sometimes these bloggers do but they also talk about their subjects with human interest journalistic style (Hildegarde and Pieterbie) or a socio-politic-cultural angle. Sidney is a Belgian who lives in the Philippines and has made me humble through learning regional cultures I have never known about my birth country before. He approaches his subject matter with great interest as its student, teaching his blog visitors along the way. His images show great respect for the people who clearly puts him in the middle of their activities to capture some of the more stunning, beautiful, poignant, intimate, and sometimes shocking details about the many subcultures in the Philippines . He deserves special recognition in Philippine blogging which excludes non-citizens from consideration. Pieterbie is a Belgian in Belgium who as I imagine, travels around everyday carrying a camera. He sees things that most people see everyday but with a penchant for detail that only an avid student of life posses. He has a great sense of humor and is obviously a fine gentleman. Sometimes, however, I complain about his blog being unbalanced – more pretty women that attractive men. I am sure there are many attractive European men but Pieterbie rarely gives in to whining. I did not realize that badminton was a dangerous sport until I went to Pieterbie’s blog. I don’t know how I discovered Hildegarde but I am thankful I ventured into her blog. I learn more about the world and other cultures every day through these magnificent bloggers. Hildegarde is foremost a photographer but her interests capture mine too. She loves nature and man’s interaction with nature. Like Sidney and Pieterbie, she is also an avid student of her surroundings. Do you know what a polder is? European bloggers have the advantage of living in near proximity to countries that offer vastly different cultures, environment, flora and fauna. I consider myself the lucky recipient of their observations and photo recordings.

I don't blush that often but while reading today's entry I did. You are too kind and sweet. I don’t deserve the praise but it makes me happy! Thanks a lot !
I am not surprised your number is sevn. In the Hebrew, seven ([b'v, - Sheh'-bah) is from a root word meaning to be complete or full. I think you’re one of those rare individuals who are full of joy, full of happiness, full of talent, full of life, full of…
I second what sidney said, I blushed and felt through-and-through happy to read what you wrote about my blog! You're wonderful, Ces! I thought of you this morning while I drove Charlotte to school ... our favorite radio station has a word of the day and today's was ... petrichor. :) I learned this about the roots of the word ... "The word comes from Greek petros, a stone, plus ichor, from the Greek word for the fluid that flows like blood in the veins of the gods. So the word means something like “essence of rock”." Thank you, Ces, for your loving words. And the sevens of your are just too cool.
awwwww there you go bringing tears to my eyes.
seven seems to be your lucky number. did you see the movie "lucky # s(l)evin". somehow your post reminded me of that movie.
My dear sweet Ces, you are much too kind to me.
7 facts, hmm.
Give me until tomorrow, I'm a bit tired not, it is a quarter to one at night here. I'll write this after I have had my breakfast, after a few hours of sleep.
Thanks for tagging me!
I'm with sidney I got all flush in the face when I saw this! Gee, that is the sweetest thing anybody ever wrote about me! Thank You! and your 7 things made me laugh out loud! Great work and I'm honored!
Val, I really enjoy sharing my admiration for everything you do. Your art and creations make me very happy. Thanks.
Are all those sevens really in your life? Amazing!
You make me blush, Ces. Is that amazing woman really me? Impossible! :) Thank you for your very kind words. Dinahmow tagged me, too, but it's going to have to wait a bit as I seem to be a wee bit behind around here!
BTW I love the photo of you at your easel on the sidebar. It's perfect! You look happy and engaged in your very fine work.
Andrea, yes, and even the age 21 is divisible by 7, except of course the 7 fingers.
Yes, it's you. You are very humble. You are amazing.
Bingo! Ces, I think you might have just found a novel way to put the brakes on this tagging."List things about the tagger."
The "new" blog is entertaining.
Seven facts about me.
1 – I like being a father. I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping my kids live their life without interfering. I’m just always there when they need me.
2 – Photography is a great hobby, but I could live without, I could do something else. I use it as a medium to develop my relationships with people, I think friendship and networking is important. People are important.
3 – Sport plays an important role in my life. I am very active on the Belgian badminton scene, I have coached a young team to victory in the interclub competition the past season. I have just become treasurer of the sports council in my home town.
4 – My career has been very varied up until now, but I like it that way. I started work as a young analist/developer for a large retailer. As I had studied economics, I chose to develop my career in finance after 18 months, and went on to qualify as a chartered accountant. After that I switched to information technology. At the end of last year I decided to reorient my career and go and work for our human resources department. People are important to me. In 2005 I worked in France for 6 months, spending about 3 days per week in Paris.
5 – I think that I lost my parents far too early. My father died in a traffic accident when I was 5. My mother died back in 2001, so at the age of 38 is was left parentless. I cannot say that I missed not having a father to help me grow, I lost him far too early, so I guess I don’t really know what it is to be raised by two parents. I sometimes wonder what influence the lack of a role model has on me, but then I get a lot of appreciation from my kids, so I guess I’m not doing too bad.
6 – I enjoy the company of women, they are so different to us men, their different views of life, relationships, situations add value. They are emotionally far more intelligent than us men. I have always remained true to my wife, I cannot really explain why, it even surprises me, but then some things you cannot explain easily.
7 – Honesty is an important value to me. I always try to be honest.
Another great piece Ces, I will find the time to visit all the blogs you recommend
Dinahmow, I think that's what I should do next time!
Pieterbie, this is a beautiful, poignant yet joyful seven facts about you. I truly sympathize with you losing your father at a very early age, a most traumatic experience. I lost my father when I was 42 and then my mother three years later. I think that is a bit early too but I am the seventh of eight children. There is a place carved in my heart for them that is now empty and could never be filled and I can only imagine yours. Pieterbie, I only know you through the blogs but you are an absolute gem, a wonderful human being and someday, I hope it is possible that we shall meet. It will be my pleasure and an honor for me to meet you.
Marloes, hello there. I have to visit yours! So many interesting blogs.
Haha, thanks, Ces, but maybe you'd be dissapointed if you actually met me.
Pieterbie, I doubt that very much!!!
"KSK, I don't go to movies because I don't like to queue in the bathrooms "
