My Pleasure

Last week while I was deep in introspection, I was thinking of all the blessings my Guardian Angel brought me. They came in many forms but the one that took me by surprise the most was the kindness that several blogger friends offered. It is surprising because I have never met all of them but the sincerity they expressed made me feel like we were ancient friends.
It is very difficult for a woman to make friends, especially if she is a wife and a mother and a professional. I have found that I have fellow professionals at work who belong to the category of friends but appropriately our responsibilities take precedence over our emotional needs. I go to work to do my job, that is my primary responsibility and the friendship that develop in the workplace is an extra benefit. If friends at work are part of the compensation package, I can say that I am well compensated.
There is a part of me, however, that is not known to most of my fellow professionals. Most don't know, for example, that painting and drawing are integral parts of my life, that I cannot help but draw and paint. If I had to stop painting, I would not know myself. I also discovered that I derive pleasure from writing. The blogs have offered me the opportunity to do both. Somewhere along the lines, I met other bloggers through reading their comments in other blogs that interested me.
Last week, several bloggers did what I did not expect. I am grateful for their support, kindness and love. If we were in the same room together, I would have given each and everyone of them a heartfelt hug.
I thought about what I could do and being in the blogs, there is not much I can do other than declare my appreciation and a promise that I hope to return the favor at an opportune moment. So I thought about drawing this image of two artists meeting for coffee or tea, except I realize that a few special blogger friends of mine are writers and photographers. Therefore I would suspect that if they are one of the women illustrated above, they may have carried their very huge laptop or photo prints.
If I were to select the bloggers I would like to sit down with for coffee or tea it would be the following special people:
and last but not least and always,

Now if you want to forward this sentiment to your blogger friends, go ahead.

If this were you and me, my dear Ces, I would be greeting you with a giant bear hug rather than a ladylike handshake. You are one of my favorite people on the face of this earth, and I shall treasure your heartfelt words and illustration. Thank YOU.

I'm so happy you drew this in front of a large, heavy door. I have a fascination with old doors. The one time I was in London, I think I took more picture of doorways than actual tourist sites.

Blow a kiss to your guardian angel for me.

Bella, you sweet lovable you. I know you want a bear hug and that's probably more likely but I have to draw something that matched their fashion. Hehe. Thank you for your kind words, I am so glad I found you too, I can't remeber how, but who cares. I am just glad I have your blog to visit. I love your lovely illustrations and now I am an Emma fan.

Dear Ces ... I have the missing in flight, Anonnybird and Queen Jackie to thank for bringing the two of us together outside your wonderful Blogland teashop ... hope you drew lots of chocolate treats beyond that doorway lol;)

You know with your talent you should be letting your other world see the art you create... don't deprive them or yourself of that experience. Rainbow Smiles from me to you*!*

this reminds me very much of the scene in the movie the enchanted april when the two friends went to the charity shop where they first talked about their trip to italy.it was raining in that scene though.

Aww thanks Ces. Be careful what you wish for! No problem at all. As you know, I become very close to the commenters on my blog and email a special few regularly. Whether we've met or not, to see any of them facing difficulty makes it impossible to remain detached. Anonymity means nothing to me, I seriously want to befriend most who visit my blog! The only difficulty is when you're so far away and in need of a friend that I feel very useless. Thank you for the vote of appreciation.

B&B,
Where have you been? I have been calling you. Your home phone answering service is making a buzzing noise so I can't leave a message and the cell number has been dc'd. I hope you are well. Epsilon II decorated the tree today and I did what I hated the most - clean the living room, dusted everything, vacuumed, evrything is tidy now and Hestia is smiling. I even burnt candles.
Please call me with the new number. Thanks.

Bimbimbie, thanks to Anon. I met you and Baino through Queen Jackie. Thank you so much. I know you have been busy, nevertheless coffee or tea with you would be my pleasure.

Baino my dearest, what can I say? It's over and I am back to my old self. I sit in my favorite chair and read and if I can concentrate it's a good sign. You are so lovable.

ces, YES, wouldn't it be grand, to have coffee or tea with our blogpals? a year ago i would have never imagined having a blog, and now i can't imagine my day without the fascinating and talented people i've met along the way, sharing their discoveries, struggles, and victories. what a beautiful illustration you've done to go with this sentiment.

thanks for the birthday wishes, too. i think sharing a birthday with a sister is just as wonderful! and as for the "equal rights for equal limbs" as bella put it, which made me almost cry laughing, i don't think i'm up for doodling with my toes. but you gave me quite a boost about my attempt to draw with my left hand :)

Ces, I'm so touched, and I'm very happy about your friendship! I came to your blog through Anon and Queen Jackie :) and loved your creative art from the start. First the drawings attracted me and then I began to read your texts. I also think that you are highly talented in both disciplines!
And I appreciate you as a warm hearted woman and mother, and I would love to have tea with you in person :) Sometimes dreams come true!
Thank you so much for being a blogging fried!
Do you mind if I put your picture on my sidebar with a link to your blog?
Hugs and have a nice week, dear!

It is good to have friends indeed, and virtual friends, I mean cyberspace friends can be a real comfort.
I like the drawing of two people meeting at a door, it raises questions here. Will they go in together, did they come out together...
You could ask a million questions looking at this drawing.
Of course: you never get round to asking all the questions that can be asked.

Ces dear, you know I look for no thanks and am really a little embarrassed at you encomium. Love and support is something we all share and it is good to share it freely.
Wish I clould give you a decent hug in person to rest your head on my shoulder. There is so much room and comfort there.
You know, I sometimes don't go to exhibitions of people I know. I so often see their bare sould that it becomes an emparrassment and I seek shelter in that terrible and insipid comment: oh how, interesting!

Ces Adorio said...

Diana, I can say exactlt the same thing about you. I know there are so many wonderful artists out there in blogworld but I tend to hang around with those whose creations I enjoy and whose virtual laughter I and elan I treasure. Your beautiful soul shines through your art and you bring so much comfort.

Aimee, I totally agree. Perhaps someday when Bella moves back to Arizona, we all get to meet somewhere neutral like Las Vegas. Oh wait, I don't gamble. Somewhere with a great museum, maybe New York City. I love sharing birthdays with people I love but I still think sharing a birthday with your mother is the tops!

Thank you Lavender. As for coffee, I see you have been practicing brewing a joe on the go. I love that. Thanks for the hug!

Maria, thank you so much for your kind words. Anon was one great blogger. I miss her terribly so. I pray she is well and perhaps amassing great photographs of birds. You may use my photograph. You are so sweet. Thank you. Maria, I enjoy your walks with your friend, photographing Vienna. I wish I had such a friend in the flesh who shared my passions.

Rich, if it is any consolation, I thought about you and meeting you and Pieterbie but since I drew two women, I did not want to insult you and also I don't want to get into trouble desiring to meet men for coffee or tea, I already get into so much trouble meeting women over lunch :)

Ces Adorio said...

Val, I love you and everything you do. Period.

Ces Adorio said...

Pieterbie, I could never think of blog friends without including you. You endeared yourself to me the day you suggested I drink wine. That was priceless! Plus you are a great photographer of people.

Ces Adorio said...

Arija, you are forever wise and it will be my great honor to rest my head on your shoulder. Dear Lord, I have none to that for a long time. My sister is coming for the holidays, there will be a lot of hugging and kissing then and I will make up for all those months of none. Thank you so much. As for art and soul, yes, my illustrations and some painting showed telltale signs.

Hi ces.. I have seen you comment on Bimbimbies blog but never actually popped over to have a look at yours, and tonight fo r some reason I did. and my eyes almost popped right out as your art is just wonderful!!!!!!!!!! I love your black pen drawings and that header of yours is out of this world!!! So glad I popped in and will be back to see more of your wonderful work!!
friends? meeting people, a lot harder than its made out to be I think... and with the right people it can magic, with the wrong types... dismal failure. Finding the right ones is hard, and agree with your post!! Anyway now that I'm here - pleased to meet you!
I used to be art type blog now not so much - maybe more next yr. I'll see.
