"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

Jumpy Dumpty

Jumpy Dumpty©. 8"x10" archival ink on 11"x14 Bristol Board.

Jumpy Dumpty.
Impatient.
Impetuous.
Impulsive.
Could not walk down a little farther to the makeshift bridge.
He jumped right across the river
Above the spawning salmon.
It happened so fast.
A melee ensued.
The salmon scrambled,
The three not-so-blind mice wanted some,
And the owls swooped them up
Which cleared the way for the gnome to run home to safety.
The spoon had a date with a can of pork and beans,
So the fork ran away with the dish.
Egg yolk tastes good said the fish.

Aaahh, dear friends: let not my drawings and posts give the false impression that I have all the time in the world. I don't. I am physically still recovering from my frenzied and hectic week, two weeks ago. It is still busy but I stopped pushing myself to the point that I was popping ibuprofen for muscle aches from stress every four hours. I promised to write emails and letters. I promised to mail packages. I have not done them. I am just tired. See? I am not a superwoman. I just happen to enjoy drawing. Oh and another thing. I fell the other day and badly injured both knees. They are so much better now except they look like small blueberry pancakes. I jump and scream in agony when Daisy and Wheezy greet me with their whacking tails and nudges.

  1. HAHAHA!!! THIS is the best egg drawing so far. That hat, topped with a mouse with decorated tail, OH MY! However, i only saw two mouses, maybe I am the third one--blind, that is!

And the fisheees, egging him on to get those beautiful boots wetted. Well, SOMETHING had to give! And those owls look SO hungry. Oh! Nature is so unforgiving. ZAP!

LOVE it. LOVE 'em all, girl.
PLEASE don't feel you have to write comments to me...coming here is totally MY pleasure. You know that! OK?

I'm sad to hear about your knees. So I give you permission to sit when you pray, or stand, but no kneeling--for now. RIGHT? HAHAHA! I fell down this morning also--vertigo, it's called. This was a mild attack, though. I've had LOTS worse.

When it comes to the stress of catching up with everyone on blogs, you will have to learn to say "NO!" to yourself. The word is only two little letters, right!

FIRST THINGS FIRST! That means ART is up there, right after YOUR health, then your family.

Of course, I KNOW how much you needed all this advice from steveroni fiddlemn! LOL!
    BYE!
    Tsup!

  2. Heeheehee! I don't blame those salmon. He looks absolutely delicious! Look at him, all dapper and manicured! Love his footwear. So FANCY! So you've got some über fresh lox there, and scrambled egg, blueberry pancakes. Dang it, don't let that dish and fork run away. I needs them.

The mixture of textures in the background is fantastic! Two in one day, what a treat! It's like dessert for my eyes.

  4. What could be more perfect for this week's prompt!??? It's like the Dumptys are being called into being by the universe. I love this series, so funny, so inventive, so full of personality, so obCESsive! Is it a coincidence that your amazingly fertile creativity produces acorns & eggs?

I hope your knees heal super-quickly-- I know that must be miserable, but I'm so glad it's not your hands that were hurt!

  11. Oh, I loves me a rugged, handsome egg! Look at those legs! Oh Ces, see, not only are you brilliant with your art, but your mind is BLAZING! Who thinks of these things??? (Besides you and Bella) You are beyond clever. I cannot find the gnome. Brawyn Man just came in...he said, now SHE'S and artist. I think that says it all. **kisskiss** Deb

  15. THe detail makes me dizzy here, the fun in every line invites me - and I can just hear him oh so carefully making his way through the forest, and then forgetting his egginess (eggsomeness? eggselfness?) lost in thoughts of fishing, slipping... oh oh oh! Fun.
