Atchafalaya Swamp

Bald Cypress Trees. Pigment ink on Bristol Board

Bald Cypress Trees At The Atchafalaya Swamp Along U.S. Interstate 10

The Atchafalaya Basin or Atchafalaya Swamp is the largest swamp in the United States. It is very eerie driving through the 18.2-mile (nearly 30 kilometers) Atchafalaya Swamp Freeway, especially in the evening. It is the longest elevated bridge in the US. The first time we drove through it was several years ago, at dusk and my heart was catapulted. We all fell silent. I really felt we were passing through a sacred place. My friends have also reported similar experiences.

Ah! Cajun Country! (More memories.) The more I see your work, the more I realize that we who are here on your blog are witnessing an artist who will be remembered--revered--for centuries.

I mean that, your work is simply AWESOME.

Remember? I compared once your notebooks to those cherished ones of Beethoven. More and more, I KNOW what I though several years ago about you, is truer than true.

I can say no more, Ces, except...
Tsup

~good morning my friend...once more you have captured the essence and beauty that lies within the forest beautifully...the swamp...something i have never seen...though it reminds me of our mountain we go to in the summer...by may the snow has melted so quickly leaving pools of water and bare trees standing admist the grounds...i could only imagine what it was like driving through there at dusk...kind of gives me the chills...wishing you a wonderful day ahead...much love light and blessings~

J'aime me perdre dans ta forêt ma chère Ces...

I generally do not think of swamps as beautiful places, but you have elevated it to the supreme. Something so deliciously mysterious about your dark waters. BeYOOtiful!

It's gorgeous..though from your words, I can only imagine it's a bit eerie too. Wow, both of your illustrations are beautiful..though the ink forest is something I can get lost in! Happy weekend my friend. Tsup!

Beautiful work.
You know, I've never seen a swamp up close.
Adding that to my list . . .

Hi Colleen! Thank you for your visit. I tried to visit you and commented on your frog post but wordpress would not let me in. :( I will try again later.

thank you Grandewitch.
Your kind words warm my heart.

i like your dark forest.
It's so beautiful and loved by the universe that made it.
And if you're alone in that forest, i hope you know that I'm alone too.
So I believe we will be friends.

bye Grandewitch.
