The Elephant Forest

Pachyderm Forest. Archival pen and ink on 9"x12" Bristol Board.

On the left, is the Pachyderm Parade drawing I did for Bella more than two years ago. My dearest friend loves elephants. I have come to regard it as her symbol. When I draw elephants, I associate it with tenderness, loyalty, strength and wisdom. I am grateful that she sent them my way so they can play in my forests. Thank you for sharing your elephants, Bella. Tsup!

Do you know who else loves elephants and elephant trees?

My dearest Arija... Here is an entire forest of elephants for you! Sorry, it took so long. I wanted to surprise you when you woke up this morning but when I press the "publish" button, I believe it will be past 3:57 PM your time. Your today, is my tomorrow, but for now, this is my present for you.

Tsup!

Oh Ces . . .I am overwhelmed by the depth of your soul, your artistry, your love and generosity and over and above all, your ELEPHANTS, so many elephants, so joyful and so sad at the same time, such beautiful and REMEMBERING creatures who play and love and protect each other and mourn just as we do.

I was so depressed today and now have tears of joy running down my cheeks and splishing on my lap as I write.

You are a friend in a million. How can I ever repay you for such wonders?

Bella has talent and draws beautiful things for you while my soul seems to lie dormant and unproductive.

Thank you so much my dearest dear, I love each and every one of them!

. . . Arija

Aaaaawwwwww! What do you mean, you don't do anything? Are you kidding? You do a lot. You share with us the beauty of the world as you see it. Your photographs are a joy to behold. I swear the sky in Australia show off only for you! I am glad to hear this simple drawing cheered you up. I am so sorry about your earlier state today. Tsup!

Let me interlace my trunk with yours. How I wish your drawings could spring to life so that I could run among your pachyderms. Perhaps when I close my eyes to sleep tonight.

Tsups to you and my fellow ele-file Arija.

What a magical elephant world you've created, Ces... The elephant trees (or elephants hidden in them?) are so whimsical! I like the deep high starry sky which frames the first drawing... I find amazing the elephant motifs in the second drawing - like carvings in the stone, a nice stilization!
Such a fairy and loving atmosphere... Lucky Bella and Arija to have your love and friendship!
