Some of these acorns are so unusual, so amazing.
I'm learning so much about the quercus family.
Good stuff . . .
Please see my reply to your Oz request (on my blog.)
Pastries. Yummmmm.
Fuzzy little sucker, ain't it.
It reminds me of ice cream on a cone :)
Thank you, Rick! Sent you an email.
Yes! i am delightfully surprised at some of these forms and shapes. Thank you.
oh I like the Cyclobalanopsis fleuryi. It does kind of look like an ice cream cone :)
It reminds me of a beehive. The scientific names for these acorns are something else, Ces. I would never be able to remember them. I think I would just call this one Upsidedown Beehive Acorn". lol
TSUPs to the master acorn drawer!

Fuzzy little sucker? Stop making me wet my cheeks :)
Quercis Whateveryoucallitis Expertus Cesirous .....
Hmm, Ces you have such an elegant balance in your work.
You know, just the right stroke in just the right place!
That;s why we should all have aspirin...
But that would be talking about Willows then, and not oaks.
You know, if I wasn't so glabrous I guess I would be more polymorpous, eh?
It's funny 'glaucous' in Oz is often used to describe something greyish.
And in eyeballs of course glaucoma gives you a greyish disc head in some cases ....
see you Ces a woman with style determination and talent!
Sorry I have been scarce.
Thank you Audrey!!!
Of course I am delighted with your drawings, Ces BUT! That photo, in orange color--WOW!
My 'nine' are happily ensconced in their pre-cut matte, but I'm having trouble with the frame...will post photo when I figure it out.
PEACE!
Hi Ces...I've been coming here back and forth trying to post but something just kept coming up. Now finally...
I think all your nuts are awesome! The last ones you made were especially exotic and alien like. I keep imagining little creatures with huge eyes hibernating inside the shells and ready to come out any time I'm not looking!
(^_^)
grandewitch dont worry i wont ask you why you are drawing these!
i didnt even know there were >600 oak species and varieties (wow!!!)
i just visit your blog from time to time.
ok i'll see you later with your new drawings!
take care, until then.
~the first one looks so real...fuzzy yes and kind of prinkly too...have you touched one or are you drawing from an image...always amazed by your ability to bring the fine details into light...much love~
