Unfinished Business

A grove of American basswood in the Blue Ridge mountains.

A row of Populus tremuloides or Quaking Aspens, Rocky mountains.

Quercus virginiana at the Alamo Shrine and gardens. San Antonio.

Bald cypress trees along the Atchafalaya Swamp Freeway, Louisiana.

Here are some images from a project I did not finish because of my carpal tunnel syndrome, and later because I forgot about them.

Tonight I found two memory cards with thousands of images!!!

  2. That picture of the shivering poplars has been an old favourite of mine. I have them growing in one of my gardens where they easily become a pest as they sucker madly but they are chatter so beautifully in the faintest of breezes and are quite spectacular in the fall.

I do hope you no longer overstrain your hand. I know how painful the condition is and how long it takes to heal and also how easily it can be re-activated. So take great care of yourself my dearest of dears.

  3. So very masterful are you with your fabulous artwork and then the way that you craft words. How touch and sweet are your words Ces to my soul. Thank you so much for those encouraging words. They mean so very much to me right and always. I truly do love you girlfriend. You are wise. Sending you the biggest hug I can muster right now.
    Tsup, tusp!
    I go cry now.

  5. ooooooooow, I have carpel tunnel too. It is the pits!!! I hate being limited by it. When it is really bad I tend to randomly drop things. My hands just quit working. I love your trees and I think that unfinished is sometimes as lovely as finished. They are all beautiful just as they are.

    TSUP!!!

  9. Hey Ces, I had sore arms once and I tried holding the pen between my toes but I kept stubbing myself in the eye (I have short legs and a long neck) so I cannot recommend that for you - unless you wear poly carb wrap around safety glasses...

Well why do we make light of something so serious. It's just because we care about you. But also because we are selfish. Your art is so wonderful that it is beyond adjectives and I must use a thesaurus (a kind of dinosaur) every time I come here.

Here goes. Scintillating fits - because your work is so luminous. Meditative - because we can lose ourselves in your work. Comforting - because we know that time spent with your work is never wasted.

And jealousy - because we don't have your talent. :)

    see you.

May all your joys of 2012 be really REALLY BIG ONES :)

  10. Oh by 'Scintillating fits' - I didn't mean that your art work gives me 'episodes' like petite morts. Err I mean Grande Mals. I once went into an art gallery that was run by a psycholigist. The show upstairs was called Petite Mort and was full of really very bad portrait paintings of men in the throws of 'petite mort'. The artist was sort of 'gay'.

When I was leaving the gallery I had a word with the owner and asked him why he had chosen that particular artist. He said that one of his girl's had picked the artist, but he wasn't really sure about the show and why there were all those portraits of men in 'pain'.

It turns out that he had never heard of the expression la Petite Mort."

I was so shocked I started going to a new psychologist, one who put water in his fish aquarium to keep the fish more comfortable...

    see you :)

  12. I like the Populus tremuloides the best (I had to cut and paste that name because it's too hard to spell). The Quercus virginiana is great too (cut and paste).

Hope your carpals get well soon! :)

  14. Ces, these are gorgeous! I especially like the aspens. How big are they? It'd make a great wall mural! Wow...finding so those memory cards was like finding money in an old jacket pocket! And maybe I'm dense or something, but what are the dishes you refer to in your blog name? I've always wondered...

  16. Hello there!
I found your blog through another one and I really do like your art!

About the the carpal tunnel syndrome, I have a collegue who has had surgery for this just recently. She is still at home, recovering, a few weeks more to come. As I understand the pain and all the trouble she has had from it will go away. Hopefully of course, never any guarantees ...
