Quercus Infectoria - Aleppo Oak

The leaves of the Quercus infectoria measure 3-8 x 1.5.-5 cm; leathery, oblong with a rounded, sometimes cordate base with dentate margins of 4 to 9 pairs of teeth or crenate-dentate often wavy lobed. It is shiny above, paler beneath, glaucous, glabrous or with stellate hairs, polymorphous, leaves at the base of the twigs are often entire; 5-11 vein pairs; intercalary veins present; 1 cm. cylindrical petiole. The 2-3.5 cm x 1.8 cm acorn is mucronate, ovoid, elongated, shiny light brown, glabrous; the  peduncle is as long as the petiole; enclosed by 1/5 hemispheric or subconical cup with lanceolate, appressed, tomentose scales. Oaks of the World.
