Brisk. Pen and Ink on 9"x12" Bristol Board
So many things have happened since I drew the top image. It was my first entry to Illustration Friday. I posted it on January 12, 2008 for the Illustration Friday prompt "Stitch." Later that year, in the month of August, to be exact, something wonderful happened on my blog. I posted the drawing on the left and I was visited by a beautiful human being who turned out to be more than just a blog acquaintance. We have been friends ever since, the best! What have I done to deserve such gift? I am so happy, truly blessed. Thank you.I love tracing my blog history. So many happy moments. I have met so many wonderful and talented people who have enriched my life. Most of all, I have been inspired to pick up the pen again and draw. I rediscovered my love for pen and ink. I keep on experimenting. One thing I noticed though, I have always loved mushrooms! The drawing on the left has parasol mushrooms!!! Oh, and lizards. Haha! Have a lovely week everyone. I am going to have a very busy work week, interspersed with very important tasks and physical pain. Noooooooo!!!
Hello, well I am so very glad I found your blog. It is so inspiring that it makes me feel like a small grain of sand stuck in my ear... no, no that doesn't sound right.
ReplyDeleteCes, your work is significant. It is inspiring. It is usually perfect. I would rather it was imperfect. That way I could say "See, even Ces artist superb, sometimes stuffs up!"
But I have never, not once, ever, b een able to say that one of your images could have been improved!
(PS I am just seeing exclamation marks. I even like those :) )
My word is vingnel. I have had that one before. i think google is breaking down.....imagine that!
see you today is moonday and I must go and moon ... er that doesn't sound right either :)
Aaaahhh! Mr. Finnie, you are too kind. I am not telling but I make mistakes. I cover them up. See, Ink is good. Just draw a rock over it. Hahah! Okay, back to laundry!
ReplyDeleteKind? Me? Never. Just honest.
ReplyDeleteMistakes? You? Pfft! :)
Of course, to err is to be human.
The art is in the sleight of hand.
See I have both hands tied behing my back and I can still type with my nodes. Though it is gettinth radder flapt on the tipth.
Ah honest Mr. Finnie. Art may be in the slight of hand but one has to create something. Actually, I think it is in the beholder :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you picked up your ink pens again your drawings are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI can't see the pictures... that's scary!
ReplyDeleteWhoaaaaaa! Talk about refinement! What an evolution your drawings have gone through. Your trees are so much more defined and finely rendered. Your woman is very elegant. There is more fluidity and ease. I love the way the wind tousles her hair. And her scarf has the most beautiful patterns! Your detailing just gets more and more spectacular!
ReplyDelete**sigh** I shall always consider the day that I magically found you, Bella, and Renee, to be one of my biggest blessings in life. Bella's comment on Woody and the pool cleaner, and then your speechless response gave me a good laugh...it was as if Renee was on line! And you already know how much I am in love with your work. Love covers my walls and lifts me up. **kisskiss** Deb
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were inspired to pick up your pens again Ces. I always look forward to seeing what you have created. I am envious of your patience for all those tiny pen marks.
ReplyDeleteAhh that's better, all I could see was exclamation mark road signs, and I thought, well I agree with what Ces's has written, because it makes sense, but the images "are very interesting"
ReplyDeleteNow I can see thw images I agree with Bella, that you have finessed your work, fine tuned it. Your arebesuqes are more arabesquian, your patina adds character - eg the ruffled hair, the sinusioudelness of your compostional elements are more organic
if you can't understand what I just wrote - imagine how I feel. :)
Hey I looked in the sky before. I think I saw a wicth.... err sorry I am lisping again.
OOOH Girl you are about to make like snow again!! How fantastic is are these fabulous works!! Oh my goodness Ces. They are simply over the top wonderful. I love your banner!!! Yes indeed I am screaming with delight! Wonderful, magnificent and beautiful. Great work. I am looking to have some down time very soon so I can start blogging again. I miss you wonderful people. Hope that you are staying warm there in TX. Love you honey bunny.
ReplyDeleteTsup!
My dear Ces! I have been soooo crazily busy that I haven't had a chance to pop by. Seriously, I sent the emails and blog post from my car in between piano lessons for my youngest and play rehearsal for my eldest..and then had no time to write to you..and so, I am SO apologetic. I must focus and come back here to really appreciate your latest posts! I promise I am going to tonight (after my work-work)..I hope you've been well my friend! Tsup!!!
ReplyDeleteAh... I see now!! And worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating to see the journey over time... & yet the fundamental Ces-ness remains. As they say, wherever you go, there you are! It's good to embrace change & yet accept your deepest self-truth.
ReplyDeleteGoodness Ces, your banner is magical! I was taken back by all the white...so lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt's no surprise how much your art has evolved in such short period of time...I really love how even finer and richer it looks now.
I hope you'll never stop squiggling. Ever.
oxx
and i always adore your drawings.
ReplyDeleteALWAYS.
