Young Tempestuous Lindol. Archival micro pigment ink on 12"x9" Bristol Board.
This is Lindol, prepubescent (above), but starting to show her tempestuous, temperamental, nature. She is unpredictable and prone to temper tantrums. She has a twin sister who is equally volatile and explosive. She does not understand why the other children avoid her and instead, she seems to attract the underground creatures. They come out when she runs or stomps her right foot. That right foot of hers, hurts so much. Her Mother tells her it is growing pains. Growing pains indeed for you shall see what happens to her right foot when she grows up! She relieves the pain by stomping her foot, alas, with disastrous consequences.
In the meantime here she is perched on her favorite tree by the stream. She loves to go fishing but is disappointed with the extreme lack of challenge, for the fish come to her like willing pawns to whatever she has planned in that disastrous mind of hers. Someday soon, she will have both arms sleeved with tattoos, much to her Mother's dismay.
Lindol follows no schedule and is most unpredictable. Those who know her may detect her rumblings and expect dire consequences but most often, she just breaks out into a most horrid and catastrophic scream in the night.

I started illustrating my first Disaster Series in April 2010 after Andrew Finnie gave me a Bald Faced-Liar (Creative) Award. Naturally I had to live up to the challenge. Thus I created Las Hijas de Señora Phenomena Naturale, . My daughter told me to draw them next, as babies.

One of these days, I will talk about how I draw these things, my technical and creative process, nothing fancy, just something I want to share someday.
Hey, that girl looks like one of those Germans I met on the foggy beach last Friday's '55' they were all sans garments. (Does 'sans' mean nekkid?) Whatever!
ReplyDeleteGod, you WERE up late, I'll bet we had coffee together and didn't even realize....Gonna do it early tonight, been the roughest day for me in many years.
PeaceZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I would come to her willingly, too. My goodness! I see at least three different kinds of foliage, all intertwined in a complicated, intricate mesh of vines and leaves. My jaw hurts from when it dropped to the floor! I love her tattoos. I love her hair! I love her milky white skin. Knowing that she is entering adolescent temperaments and tantrums is terrifying!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me. I need to look for dragonflies and butterflies.
it's really beautiful Ces and very creative. I can't wait to see more in this series.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely lOVe this! It's gorgeous. :) I know all about daughters who decide to get their arms tattooed. Yes. I am the unfortunate mother of such a creature. She was never destined to conform though! I'm over the shock and I hope she doesn't get any more! :) xx

Oh my Cesalicious!!! **gasps** So much work and squiggles of prayers filling the light to make shades of gray! I love how you made a prequel! Not only are you one of the most talented, prolific artists I know, you are a brilliant story teller. You are my shining star in the darkness of night. I am following the schedule of a small child...I forgot how much time they take!!! But all is good and joyful. And beyond busy. And oh how I have missed you. Big gigantic love to you. **kisskiss** Deb

ReplyDeleteSmiles
Ahhhhh!! I hope she doesn't scream anytime soon..wow, Ces. This is a fantastic second series between the mature and the babies! Oh my, your daughter is cracking the whip!! The detail in this is smashing, Ces..as per usual. I look forward to the series but oh my, the devastation these young tempests will leave in their path...oh my! Hugs to you!! Tsup!
ReplyDeleteJust came back for a qick check to make sure it was as beautiful as I remember --- it was :)
ReplyDeleteYour details are stunning. Your art demands a lot of stare time.
ReplyDeleteFine work, this.
I love the fish at the bottom. They could be cut off and made their own illo. It feels like any inch by inch space on this piece could be cut apart and made it's own illo.
Very intricate stuff.
Hello my supertalented friend!! how have you been doing? Thank you so much for the very ego-lifting words you left in my blog, they mean a lot coming from an amazing artist such as your self.
ReplyDeleteAs ALWAYS this painting is just gorgeous, the detail work is completely out of this world - how on Earth can you do that???? it would take me about a year to complete a piece like this, you are AWESOME!!! The story you wrote is so beautiful, I loveeee this kind of stories, you know that I'm addicted to mythology and folklore, don't you? You should make an exhibition with this series, maybe even propose to some editor to publish all of these paintings in a book, Everyone would love it!!!
Big TSUP directly from Lisbon :D
Haha, you know only speak the truth... now go plan that awesome exhibition, and make sure to bring it to Lisbon as well, so I can go and see it :D
ReplyDeleteyes yes i know that you love elephants, i saw your post something about the elephants on outside your window then i draw the elephant to cheer you up but something happened i think i messed up with blogger and the post is just gone.
ReplyDeletetrying to fix it...
ReplyDelete:/
see you later grandewitch.
Oh MartineAlison! Thank you very much for your comments. You are very thoughtful and I appreciate your sentiments very much. For the amount of time I have spent on my art, it has not given me any financial gain, not that I am needing it, but one would think that there must be something utilitarian. Alas, not. In fact it is a burden for me sometimes. I feel imprisoned by the desire to ink. I hope I am rid of that desire soon. I miss painting terribly so. Drawing is a sort of therapy for me right now, a nervous habit. I hope you are well. Big hugs and lots of kisses to you. Tsup!
ReplyDeleteYou are the master storyteller with your deliciously detailed work! Magnificent!!! Beautifully illustrated Ces. It's grand indeed. It's wonderful. Hope that you are doing well there in Texas and getting some rest too.
ReplyDeleteLove you so much!

Steve, I hope you are having good days since your comment. :0
ReplyDeleteBella, maybe it is the little Lindols that are responsible for the swaying but not the rocking. She hates her wavy hair. Wait till she matures, she'll really hate it. Live your eye for details. Tsup!
ReplyDeleteThank you K.H.!
ReplyDeleteJessie, oh my. Well, it seems to be the rage. I don't care much for it either. :)
Welcome back Diana. Get back to the studio. :)
Thank you Tammie.
Hello Deborah! I know that schedule. That's a tough one. By 7PM, I was exhausted. When I put them to bed, I was the one who fell asleep first.
ReplyDeleteDays are days, I L O V E most of them. It's like when I ask my dog how was his day? And he answers, "Rough...Rough!"
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking for your cAc (trademark) on all your pieces, and on daughter's wrist is perfect. Also that fish-hook has been around for many months now.
And believe it or not, I also enjoy solitude. I have to be careful it turns not into isolation.
Probably wrote here before--this MUST be the first time someone wrote more than one comment on a post of yours--grin!
GOOD CHEER!
