Refrain

Oak Leaves. Permanent ink on 3.5x2.5 inch 40% cotton paper.

Seasons

I leave thee just
As seasons
Come and go
As Earth pleases
Existence.
Hot, humid, dry, arid
The ground breaks
Tempers released
Drought brings

Petrichor!
Breezy, chilly, dark, grey
Ablaze in colors

Fiery beauty
Silent death.
Frigid, cold, icy
So bleak yet white and pure
Sunny, bright, mellow
Slow.

Washes away grim
An acorn pushes itself from the ground
A little oak tree

Free.
Buying time.

I remain.

Sprout. Matted ATC sized permanent pigment ink in 40% cotton paper.

The above, is a poem I originally wrote for the Season Series, a collection of pigment ink drawings on Bristol Board. It was my first serious attempt to draw in pen and ink as I was purely an oil painter at that time.

  1. Wonderfully evocative Ces, new life in an acorn and nurtured through the leaves.

  5. Gorgeous, Ces. I am heartened by the "I remain," line.

  6. Ces I studied this creation of yours (the acorn) and realized you have put creation itself on a piece of paper. Only One could do it better--God. The reason His is better, it is constantly in some sort of growth mode, ever changing.

    I L O V E this. Haven't we seen it before?

And your words, dear Gemini Peep: which of the twins is writing? It is good you keep the other busy sketching, drawing, "arting"--now, don't make something funny out of that--grin!

Your words are then also creative, letting me remember that all is changing...ALWAYS. How BEAUTIFUL this all is today, it makes me feel (well, I'm NOT, of course!) BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you SO much, my friend Ces.

you had my heart jump though, thinking you were trying to tell us something about you
'I remain' and that you wrote it a while ago.... made me think this truly is about the oak and life too.
    wishing you a lovely weekend.

  8. Thank you very much dear friends!!!

Tammie! Oh, I can see why you thought such. I have been sharing some personal things lately. But no, this is an old poem that guided me as I drew the Seasons Series.

Steveroni, I don't know what I am going to do with you. Sir, you are so kind to me. I am a mere pen pusher when I draw. You help make me do better. Thank you.

Elisabeth, how lovely to see you again. Thank you.

My dearest friend, Andrew. I wanted yo be serious but your avatar - HAHAHAHAHA!

Autumn Leaves, the oak will remain longer! Like Angel Oak - 1400+ years old...

  15. Ces, I always was a tattletale: Andrew Finney wrote "hmm two comments for the price of one"....

    But I counted total THREE!
And this is only TWO for ME!
Am I allowed just one more?
Or could I even make it FOUR?

Next, you'll be showing me the DOOR!

PEACE--HEY! Is the party over yet? I like to be a "late arrival" and check out who has hooked up with whom...let's see, is it in its fifth day now? THAT'S the kind of parties I lik--er, remember--grin!

  31. I saw a Peep sunning herself on the beach at Naples, Florida. Next to her was an exquisite brightly-polished-handled Golden-Brown colored broom, also sunning itself.

Scattered all over the clean, white, salted beach-sand were oak leaves of all styles, sizes...AND and, I could not believe this: SPROUTING ACORNS abounded thereon. Yes, ABOUNDED!

(Since this will probably be my final comment on these pages because of rejects, I just "let it go!!" --grin!)
