No. 4 - Las Hijas de Señora Phenomena Naturale - Buhawi

Buhawi. Pigment ink on 12"x9" Bristol Board

Buhawi's pet is an eared vulture name Torgy, short for Torgos tracheliotus. She also has a pet tree dragon, Phora (Diporiphora superba). Here she is practicing her blowing skills in the ocean where an albatross is quite impressed while the petrels are more interested in following a tanker for food scraps. Buhawi is equally destructive like her sisters Bulcana, Lindol and Chunami, just by the sheer frequency of her appearance, the lack of warning signals and her sudden onset. She is unpredictable. She mostly flutters, but when she decides to touch down, she leaves the people without any warning and just as fast as she came, she leaves; totally annihilating everything in her path.

Hi Ces - I hope you are feeling much better today - just take all the rest and time you need, we've all been there and will be there again! I am just loving this sister series of yours. The fact that it comes from your imagination makes it that much more interesting! I love all the details you put in your drawings. In this one, especially the funnel cloud and the wings on her heels (if there's a technical name for them, I missed it) - here's to lurking!

Are those fins on her arms and wings on her shoulders?
Love and hugs my dear one.

Such delicious swirls. And that is the most regal vulture I have ever seen. Lack of warning signals, unpredictable, fluttering, annihilating...sounds like a woman all right.

So good to see you again, dear. Tsup!

don't know how you do it, the detail is painstaking! Beautiful.

Greetings Ces, happy what-ever-day it is today. From where I sit I can hear the scones burning in the oven, and smell the birds flying overhead.

Your work is (insert antonym for wonderfulfantastic here).

You know, I love the influnces that are in your head, just waiting there. You know, icons, stories, cultural memory.

You know.

:)

Ces, every time I return from the...uh, well, ummmmmm--YOU know where--you have posted a new one. And as you know also, or maybe someone has already told you this: These are 12"X9" Masterpieces!

Remember? No, you're too young to recall this--grin!...Beethoven thought his great NINTH Symphony had bombed at the first performance. Yet as it turns out, this is one of those greatest, yet most sublime of inspired works EVER!

Glad you are feeling better Sunday

Ces, I had written a really witty, yet informative, titillating, almost exciting comment...and lost it.

However, I am hoping that YOU, who was yesterday under (under? WHAT? Oh!) the weather--and are mucho better today.

I love coming to your pages...for the usual reasons, not to comment, just to gaze in wonder at you inspired renderings (sound like you're dressing down a dead horse for soap? NO! Strike that!)

Ah well, maybe I'll learn one day how to zip the lip. Obviously that day has not arrived.

I'm F.I.N.E..oh, got this eye problem. My eyes are TOO CLOSE! I asked what that meant, and the man said, all he ever hears from me is "I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I"... --grin!

Hah! I never was a "spunky teenager"...just missed that whole show between 10 and 20. Don't remember it. Being not spunky then--or now, I'm going to bed--noticed you are one hour different from here, so Gute Nacht!

Maybe be glad your spunky teen is not drugged or drunk or otherwise compulsed/obsessed/etc.

Bye, Ces.

Of all the disaster women, she scares me the most. Not sure why, but I think it's the unpredictability... Your drawing, of course, is divine! Love the vulture and the lizard relaxing on the ominous cloud... And the waves!! Exquisite!! TSUP! Silke
