Chunami, The Overwhelming. Pigment ink on 12"x9" Bristol Board.
Let me tell you about my favorite cloud formations. My favorites are the Roll clouds, then the Anvil and then ta-da!... Mammatus! What has it got to do with Chunami, the Overwhleming daughter of Phenomena Naturale? Nothing really. But please check out the mammatus clouds. They are usually associated with severe weather and tornadoes.
Chunami is the third child and is the twins' (Lindol and Lupuk Bulcan) younger sister. Chunami lives in the ocean depths where she plays with her pet, the Enteroctopus dofleini. She adorns her hair with architectonica perspectiva. She wears a necklace with a Harpa articularis pendant. She is usually naked. She loves to adorn herself with jewelry from the sea. She takes no prisoners. Though she doesn't linger, her quick passage causes total devastation which are almost always fatal.
She may give an indication ahead of time that she is coming: She makes the ocean and sea water recede, sometimes making the fish jump in exposed shore beds and luring the unsuspecting people who are fascinated by the massive shore that suddenly appears; and just when they figured they have time to romp in the sand, she sucks them and washes them ashore and swallows them back to sea.
So, if you see the water draw back to the sea, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

It seems strange to me, Ces, to think of storms as creatures who flash through and as you say,'take no prisoners', but leave mass destruction.
Your illustration captures the essence of this odd mix, the beauty and horror of nature and the sea.
beautiful really beautiful but also reminds me of sadeness...
i hope you are well, grande witch, im thinking of you.
OMG it's just beautiful!
Good morning! Thank you very much. We live another day.
Why yes Elisabeth, exactly so. Patton once said that prisoners are expensive. You have to feed them and clothe them, hence take no prisoners but just annihilate them. The word is horror and I do not like still waters, especially dark still waters - lots of those where I grew up.
Mita, there is no joy with any natural hazard especially when it becomes a disaster.
Thank you Charles Bjornsen.
Hello Mita
Gorgeous!! You capture the severity and look of wrath perfectly! Just yesterday, I talked with my dad about the forces of nature (Naturgewalten) and how we are so powerless when they happen. At the same time awesome and destructive! Wishing you a gentle day! Love, Silke
What a great depiction of a storm....I think it reminds me of the Greeks who always associated nature with a persona. (sorry if I'm not making much sense, am in pre-migraine stage...)
I have seen FAR TOO MANY of the mammatus clouds here. They scare me senseless as I know what is usually following at the other end.....
None the less, beautiful work on a harsh subject. Very well done.
XXOO!!

Earlier, I never don't heard about this "mammatos", but now When I open this link and saw it, I and my sister was in shok! Really! Your USA's sky is totally differently in comparate with our sky! :)
I never not have seen Tsunami, Tornadoes, tayfuns...
Your beautiful Chunami is so wonderful, I need one her kiss, please...! =)
hello i miss you.

Sade are you diabolical or divine?

Hi Ces!
Wow! Increbibly amazingly beautiful painting. It's one of my favorite! :)
love the movement & mood of this piece
Hi Ces!!! wonderful to see you again...through your art...I have been busy as a bee too...will have to catch up soon!!!
Hugs
Diana
Your Chunami is frighteningly beautiful and powerful Ces!! Thanks for teaching me about Mammatus clouds - I never knew that's what they were called. They are dramatic and something to look at - though not for too long, I take!! just love love love all you do!!!
I came fully prepared this time. I have lashed myself to the chair so that I won't be swept away. I am ready for my Calgon moment. I think I may just have to wear my inflatable inner tube as well.
The details make my innards light up and pulsate! Fantastic patterns in her skirt and I love how the wave on her arm tattoo looks like it is part of the ocean. I love her nakedness! I love the peeking eye.
What strikes me about your sisters of destruction is that they are not angry or vengeful. They are not retaliating against exposed cleavages or promiscuity. They are calm. This is just what they do. Foolish are we to underestimate her power.
Hope your inner storm is abating. Tsup!
Oh, baby. Now you're talkin.
Even though the women in this series represent destruction, I can't help but see the beauty that you have given them.
I am feeling like Chunami grabbed hold of me and swooshed me around in the ocean last night ~ very sick and spending most of my time in bed today.

Thanks for illuminating us about the "mammatos" clouds... I've never seen something like this before... they're so beautiful but also terrifying!!
Love your work and all the details on it, it's really a fantastic creation!
Wow, your pen work is awesome! So much detail! What depth of story behind these women as well.
I'm glad you liked the tapestry. May I e-mail you about the coffees? My e-mail address is skhamrick@comcast.net.
Well first off I adore this piece..I really think that she is my very favortie one so far..even though she is wickedly destructive...she is beautiful to me..I do love the sea!
Wanted to give you a hug and tell you thank you for the comment hon. Been a long but wisdom gathering journey! Great big swan hugs to you dear Ces!!
Love, Sarah
This is just over the top fabulous! Love the woman and the waves. Such detail and movement! You are a genius!!! You really are! It's just beautiful!!!!!!
I love you you brilliant woman you!

Ces, this is so beautiful, so many little beautiful details to look at
Tsup*!* My replacement modem has arrived and I know have an open gateway to sit quietly with my mug of tea and breathe in what I've missed, smiles to you from me.
OMG!!! I can not believe these. You make something so dangerous look so gourgeous. I see now two sides to the coin. I see the beauty in the destruction.
I am in awe of the Ces.

...I am slowing, it was a good ride.
This is my favorite one. I love her! Living near the coast we are always reminded of tsunami dangers. In Cannon Beach they have an alarm that will sound if a tsunami is expected but they test it now and then. It is the sound of mooing cows. I think that is so funny. They wanted something that would really catch people's attention.
My flag book did take care not to get glue everywhere but when you say you haven't the patience for it, I know you have a lot of patience for what you love because your drawings must take a lot of it.
I haven't heard the mooing cow alarm. I would guess the local people would know the difference. I live in the Coast Range mountains, takes an hour to drive to the coast. Yes, that coastal drive along Oregon shores to California is stupendous for views.
maybe your ideas are brilliant CESS!!! but I have some really really silly ones...lol
Aside from artistic prowess and huge picture-carving-with-words abilities, what I REALLY like (LOVE!) is your zest for life, for living, Ces...that ENTHUSIASM you show me/us time after time in your posting, commenting, and BEING!
It is an honor to be allowed to be here.
steveroni (Gemini--yep, it was me!)
hahahahaah....I am brewing so much it is like what Deborah always says...a confetti explosion in my head...hehehehe.....and what are you talking about....you are by no means old and are an even more amazing outside the box thinker than any of us!!! seriously!!!!
you have me laughing so loud ...I may wake up Cole...heheheheh.....and I think I could go for a whopper right about now!!! lol....
you are so funny...I just love you!!! thank you for always making me feel special....but you are amazing....and that is no joke!!!
SOME peeps ya know...ya just KNOW them. You do not have to live next door--in fact that is often a hindrance.
I hardly know you, too. But I DO feel comfortable here in your library-gallery, air just permeated with the odors of talent.
steveroni (new name! Anonymous, ya know--grin!)
Hey, what happened to "what's-her-name"...Manon, should she not be sparring with you about this hour?
Hope she isn't seeing this, LOL (What's her name...)
ODOR! Take that back. I plan to take a shower next week! I don't like that word. I want the word "scent" instead. HAHAH!
I think she may be trying out for the Olympics hockey team.
Wow Ces, I really do admire you. Your quality and output is remarkable.
sounds great CES!!! have a wonderful night and I hope you have wonderful dreams!!!
Hugs
Diana
OK. SCENT...Shhhhh--whispering...maybe "aroma"?
Does fart fall on any category? PFFFT!
Well, I used to drink coffee, but no more- Now I'm on a strict diet of...PG What's that stuff? Oh yeah, Espresso, but not them little ones, I mean a VENTI (short for ventilate, I guess?)
Caffeine is IN!
Fart is when someone in front of you does it, and then they look back at YOU. They are what I call a FART!
That would be a STINKER!
Oooh! If Venti is short for Ventilate then a fart is a venti! Okay. I am going to sleep with fart in mind. Thanks a lot!
Hey welcome back, again!
Goodnight!
Well, it's about time12 LOL Good night!
it's like avatar
I have not seen Avatar.
"So, if you see the water draw back to the sea, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!"
OK Ces, but if I "run for my life" I'll die from a heart attack. Maybe that is what means "run for your life"? grin!!
I'd rather stay and see the Tsunami, much more exciting, thrilling.
(Just Passing through, checking out all what I've missed during these 8 MONTHS--seems like!)
--steveroni
Hey, it's like the Twilight Zone in here.
Have you seen 'Time and Again'?
Or perhaps, 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'?
Oh, I know. 'Groundhog Day'
Remember that tsunami in Thailand? The drawback lasted for hours and people explored the exposed sea bed and some even picked up the jumping fish. They all perished.
Hear the background music? Nothing is repeating itself.
I never, never, never, never repeat myself.
Ces, You may be right (My favorite 4 words LOL!) However, I mean it would be far more exciting to die watching, and then IN the Tsu, than to fall over w heart attack running away (for my life).
You don't want to die from drowning! t's awful to drown!
12 hrs
How 'bout 'The Dirty Dozen'
Oh, good morning!
Besides watching a tsunami is a foolish thing to do.
I'm always coming late to these parties - I'm not even going to try to figure out the fart jokes! Well Cesalina - I'm really enjoying this series of yours. Love your detailed technique and the stories behind each drawing. Those waves are beautifully deadly, I've never heard about Mammatus clouds and checked them out in your link - another warning like the receding tsumani waves?
I remember very well the stories about the receding water from the tsunami of 2004 - so scary and sad. All the wild animals left hours before it hit too, so much more sensitive than humans to mother nature.
Awesome piece Ces!
Yep she causes a bit of havoc in my part of the world on occasion!
Fabulous illustration Ces. I hadn't heard of those clouds and checked out your link. The formations are quite amazing. We saw the devastation wreaked by the Tsunami in Thailand about a year afterwards. What an horrific disaster.
On a happier note, I am sooooo relieved that the package has finally arrived and happy that you are happy!!! C xx
Hey Ces! Wow what a fantabulous piece. I always zoom in on your work... ever since the tree lizard incident. I saw so many cool things. Fish, a shark, octopus, tiki man, raging winds descending upon a small oceanfront community, stars... and so much more. You have such a gift Ces, thanks for sharing it with us.
wow!!!!!
The overwhelming INDEED!!! I am so far behind now, and I was only missing for two days...you are just too prolific with this amazing art. The detail...the wee little houses. I am in love with this series. Oh. But I am in love with all of your work. I have a million things on my list today, so I will return tonight, in the quiet, and fall into each new piece, slowly...swim in them for a while, in the quiet. I was missing you this weekend! ACK! Addiction. ObCession. **kisskiss** Deb
she's wonnnnderful, ces! i love love all the lil ces touches and flourishes and details. that's what makes her so grand. "))
It's been SO long since I've looked at your site (I don't know where I've been), but I LOVE this drawing--what a wonderful goddess-woman, riding the waves and winds, with such wonderful whorls and patterns.... (I didn't mean to use so many "W"s. I'm glad to see you're still making such fabulous drawings. It's pretty darned inspiring.
