The Secret Society Of Oaks - No.7

Back To Happiness!!!

Queen Nymph Silke Powers

There are some people, who at first glance, you just like them and you are not shy to approach them, like most of my oak nymph friends. There’s Silke. I remember seeing her at Bella’s blog and I saw her avatar and read her comment and then read Bella’s reply, I was grinning from ear to ear. I had to visit her then.

This is I think, what Silke wanted:

"I wonder if I anyone will notice if I magically transform this acorn to a burger...."

I share a lot of things with Silke, well for starters, there’s art and she is an immigrant at a much older age. She and I like to paint – women! I like Silke’s Women. They have a European flair, and I see them as women with history, a past. Silke also knits, loves to travel and garden and enjoys visiting friends.

But now I must talk about something delicious. Silke’s avatar! When I fist saw her at Bella’s she was holding something that looked utterly delicious. I love that tongue-in-cheek attitude about one’s self. I also noticed when she changed whatever she is eating! The last one was a barbecue sandwich from the Pink Pig Restaurant. I saw their billboard on my way to North Carolina last summer. Next time I will ask my family to stop and I will have a photograph taken of me about to munch on a Pink Pig sandwich. Oh the things bloggers do. Silke’s latest avatar looks sophisticated but she is still holding something tasty.

Her paintings, they are a treat. Her women are solemn and thoughtful and as if they are not enough, she also knits and crafts! So it’s wintertime soon, even in the south. I made sure Silke’s bird won’t catch a cold. I left a lot of spaces open, I know there will be more to draw and the card will fill up as I get to know her better.

Please say hello to Silke. She is beautiful, kindhearted, gentle, gifted, interesting, and just lovely!

  4. Another perfect capture. This time the gorgeous, elegant and gentle Silke. Isn't she lovely...and oh, her paintings! I have a LE print of an egret that she did and which I treasure. She somehow manages to imbue her paintings with such soft tranquility.

  8. Dearest Silke! I am so pleased the drawings made you smile. I had to talk about the sandwich. It is so cute. I am sure there are more that I can capture someday. I had to put an easel up there for Daniel. I tried so much to capture "gentle" I am afraid I did not do it enough justice. Please do whatever you want with these drawings. I will hold on to them until I am all done then I will send them on their merry ways. They are A ThankYou Cards, really.

Do you like the yearn wrapped around your wrist and the ball of yarn?
