The Secret Society Of Oaks - Ile Ile Tulog Anay...

Many of you often ask me if I sleep or tell me to go to sleep. Maybe it's time to listen to all of you. In the meantime, enjoy a few of the nuts I have been playing with during the past few days. These are pigment ink drawings on ATC sized cards measuring 2.5x3.5 inches. When I return, I shall bring with me the rest of my sisterfriend-oak-nymphs.

Will you please do me a favor, google this: Quercus suber. It's interesting. It's a very unique oak tree. I guarantee, you'll be fascinated.

Goodnight...
(well, it's a good night somewhere in this world)

A bountiful harvest! I have the deep desire to gather these up and rub them together in my fists.

Have a good rest, sisterfriend. Sweet dreams to you. I love your beautiful hair. Take care not to get any of those wonderful jangly charms tangled up on your head.

Tsup!

I am not as much of a nut rubber as Bella...I take my pleasure in gazing upon them.

Oh, sleepy-tired Queen Nymph Ces is adorable! Nighty night, my pretty.

Sleep dear Nymph. Sleep, perchance, to dream.......
(while Ces sleeps, Anne steals all the nuts........naughty girl, she is)

I've always been fascinated with little things like acorns. Who knew there were so many different ones?! Your drawings are so beautifully done! You make me want to pick up my pencils and try... but I know that no one could match your exquisite attention to detail!
I'm going outside to find an acorn.
I'm going to name it "Ces" if that's okay?

Silke said...

Oh my, Ces, those are a lot of nuts - gets me in the mood for fall. Although all that talk of nut rubbing and touching gets me in the mood for ... well ... Ok, time to change the subject! ;)

Sleep tight and dream of oaks, acorns, maybe one or two squirrels, of Quercus suber and a good bottle of corked wine...

Good night, Queen Nymph!! Love and hugs, Silke

Love your haycorn beret, tres chic!
Love all tose acorns and the new header with the super bark too.
One day I'll tell my oak story on the blog, then you can all have a good laugh at my expense.

Arija said...

A banksia is a Banksia, A Bottlebrush is a Callistemon. Jo.Banks did sone great botanical s of Australian plants but have you ever come across Ferdinand Bauer? A friend of ours has a set of the original prints and they are just out of this world gorgeous. Old Ferdie was here witht the Capt.Flinders expedition and did the definitive studies of Australian flora. There shuld be a copy of a book of his illustrations in the state library. If there isn't, ask them why not.

Manon Doyle said...

beautiful Ces!!!! I love all the nuts!!

Ces.... you are so kind!! How are you sisterfriend?

Arija said...

Ces, I guarantee you will love Ferdie, the best way to appreciate him is to see a folio edition. They are rare, a bit like chasing up a foloi edition of Audubon.

Mike said...

Look at all those acorns...great work. I really like your style of art, you must have a ton of patience.

yoborobo said...

I can't say goodnight, because obviously, it's not Friday! That's me in a nutshell (hahaha), always late to the party. :) Ces, these are so wonderful. I have always loved those drawings that render nature perfectly - just as it is. Is this your nursing/science side of your brain? Happy Saturday - hope you are all rested. :) Pam

aimee said...

these are brilliant little works! you achieve such depth and texture with your nature pieces. i guess you could call me a nut grabber, too. these are too real looking to resist.

Renee said...

Well these are stunning Ces. Now how the heck is your wrist?

My blog loves you. It calls for you.

Now I have a beef with this particular post and th beef is the drawing of who I assume you think is you sleeping on the top. Now I see the sweetest little face and the most tender gentle flower and think is that Ces in a Halloween face pretending she is someone else. Marie, maybe?

Bella is back and I now have a new name for your lower portion 'wasit'.

I adore you.

Love Renee xoxo

Renee said...

Notice we were doing it at the same time. har har

No nuts. That darn postman. I wait like a lapdog with my tongue sticking out everytime he comes by. yelp yelp howl, yelp. Nothing.

Love Renee xoxo

Renee said...

I will never understand how people get wasit mixed up with baby cats.

Some people are weird eh Ces?

xoxo

Ces said...

Beef! I don't think Marie has dark circles under her eyes and her eye sockets are hollow like mine on this drawing, so NO it is not Marie, Miss Wasit Renee! Hairy Nut? HAHAHAHAH! You woke me up with your wasit talk.

Rhonda Roo said...

You are crazy insane talented. Even without sleep.....

Tessa said...

Beauteous, beauteous and more beauteous. Cesarino, you startle each and every time with your amazing wand of ink. Now you go and rest and dream dreams of sheer loveliness while I sing the song my ayah sang to me...'Tula, tula, tula baba, your mama's goin' to the river...tula, tula....' to lull you into that beautiful place filled with the gracious, soaring oaks you love so much. xx

Deborah said...

Oh Ces, your comment made me laugh out loud! You are so funny. Karli enjoyed it too! I know the two of you were trying to rig the winner. I have not heard back from the actual winner yet, so Wee Pumpkin Man just may make it to Texas. **blows kisses** Deb

Tammie Lee said...

Oh my goodness, these are wonderful. I was wondering if you sleep also! ;-}

Renee said...

I can tell you right now that I will grace it but I will certainly not graze it.

Love Renee xoxo

Renee said...

Who the heck in that house has the audacity to shush you.

Now we will have to find out if Bella is will to graze the wasit because I am not. I can be grazed but I will not graze said the bald nut.

Love Renee xoxo

Renee said...

Ces my wasat is very very very, extremly tiny so no caps please. I can't speak for Bella but I would think that her isit is very tiny too.

On the other hand I have no problem typing your WASIT in caps because it is probably very very ver, extremly humungos.

Love Renee (with the very tiny wasat.)

Renee said...

I like your euphamism. Yes one hairy cat, and her two nuts (one bald from chemo and one brazillian.)

xoxox

Manon Doyle said...

Hello Ces!!! R u there? lol!! Come out and play sisterfriend!!

Ces said...

I just woke up from my sleep marathon. How are you?

Manon Doyle said...

I've been painting three different paintings this afternoon! Raining here..... dismal outside!!
I like the idea of a sleep marathon..... I need some of that...lol!

Ces said...

Three paintings! The ultimate artistic multitasking - pure Gemini pleasure! I am resting after pushing the vacuum. I wonder if I can sell wads of dog hair on eBay?

What are you painting? Did you videotape it?

Manon Doyle said...

You can sell anything on ebay!! Today ... I'd like to put Otis up!! OMG.... this dog...... he's flippin crazy!
I've got me feet up right now too.... with a glass of pinot! : )

Deborah said...

Ces. I am PAINTING!!! Okay, just the bedroom walls. We ripped out the carper and baseboards and are putting down a wood floor. I just escaped from the supervisor. He is working me like a slave. OOOpps. He is back. But still, I am PAINTING!!!!

Ces said...

Sell Otis on eBay! Hahahahahah! Did your wine bottle have cork? Chances are, that cork came from Portugal or Spain. Do you know that cork comes from oak? The bark Quercus suber! Okay okay, no FPOT showing off, I just can't help it, it's oak. you know.

I know. People are so dumb! Buying a glass of water with Elvis's sweat? Huh? YUK! I am drinking Coke on ice. I am so square!

Deborah!!!!!
Join me and Manon on our bloggermance!

Manon Doyle said...

Ya.... i knew that corks were made with oak.... after all I am French!! The French invented wine you know? lol!! OK.... maybe they didn't but they do know how to make the best wine...... oooh la, la!!
Your FPOT is huge.... mine is small!
There's so much weird crap on ebay....lol! I don't get some of the stuff people try to sell!

Ces said...

Oh yes, yes, French! Of course. Wasn't wine invented when some primitive housewife was slacking off, instead of toiling in the field she was slacking off and painting stick figures of women on caves walls? When she came out several days later, the grapes rotted and she slipped on the rockand she landed in front of the rotted grapes and there was a pool of liquid and she accidentally licked it and she liked the test and then she found out it made her feel good!

Renee said...

har har har.....

You are so funny.

xoxoxo

Ces said...

Oh! Another French! Oh lala!

Manon Doyle said...

hahahahahahaha!!! That was me in an earlier life!! It was I who was slacking off from my duties....oh.... that's me now!! What the !$$#$#! Wait.... i just knocked my wine over..... I've got to lick that up...lol!

You make me laugh sisterfriend!!!

Ces said...

Watch your language - Renee is around. The picture of you licking up the wine might drive Renee crazy. She is here and there. She might wish the wine spilled on her nuts. She is talking about my acorns as nuts.

I hope it did not spill on your laptop. It will get intoxicated and who knows will start typing salacious comments. Hahahahah!

Ces said...

So are you tongue-tied or tongue-tired?

Manon Doyle said...

tougue-tied! lol! and just plain tired! ; )

Marie S said...

Did you sleep well??
CRACKK haharhar!!

Deborah said...

I finished my walls, but the supervisor will want me to help lay the floor. Did you know that even the fine wine vineyards are going to stop using cork in the bottles because of bacteria? It is true. They will be going to twist-top bottles.

Ces said...

Are you posting your painting soon? I am still darwing acorns...I am addicted to drawing acorns...

Ces said...

Yes Deborah. My German wines, some come with twist caps. Hmn. What is this world comint to?

Marie, are you racking?

Manon Doyle said...

I'm posting a journal page tomorrow!! A redhead...lol!
I adore the acorns you're doing!! They're amazing!!

I know what it's like to get obsessed with painting something.... the women are like that for me!!

Ces said...

It's an irony. I did not find ATCs having whole lot of sense, then I had the problem with my hand and wrist. I could not strat big drawing projects and the ATC sizes offered a quick release, instant gratification. Bella was the one who suggested I drwa black and white acorns. I have not stopped since. I would like to draw as many species as possible so I study the. My head is full of nuts!

Marie S said...

Cracking up!!
A redhead I will have to check that out I used to be one of those.

Ces said...

Oh My Gosh! A NUTULOGIST! I love that. "Ces And Her Dishes: DN" (Not Doctor of Nursing but Doctor of Nutology. The Nutty doctor is in! HAHAHAHAHA!

This nut is cracking up! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Excuse me twin-sisterfriend, I have to shower and change these pajamas to a new set of pajamas. Maybe I will catch you later.

I love our Saturday Bloggermance! We never plan it or schedule it, it just happens. It's as if Mercury sent us the message to start the Gemini-sisterfriend chat!

Ces said...

Marie, most definitely check out Manon's red-head painting. See you later Sister Marie! Tsup!

Marie S said...

I do. Watching Madi is pooping me out!
I am too old to have babies.
Have a nice shower.

Ces said...

Have a lovely evening Sweet Manon. Thank you for the bloggermance.

See you later sweet Sister Marie. Let Madi crawl and climb over you on the floor. That way you could get a baby massge.

Tsup!

You must never sleep dear lady and your skill in developing your images in pen and ink are worth the price of the ride. They would be a beautiful transition into printed fabrics. Check out "spoonflower" and you may be able to write and illustrate another chapter in your life. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Ces said...

I am awake!

Bella, please do. Help yourself. Rub my nuts together in your fists. Hah! I had a sleep marathon.

Deborah that gazing may lead to gRazing. Bwah!

OMG, I am losing this.

Nut stealer Anne! Why are you so busy all the time?

You too Lisa! You are always creating that beautiful calligraphy. Did you use to be a friar or a monk in your previous life?

Marie, no! Not everyone, you first!

Hello Sarah. I love maple! YES! Next time we will draw maple!

Stacey, the first ten sisterfriend nymphs are out on the previous posts. I am flexing my heart muscles for the next ten!

Hello Silke, maybe next time you can show us eating some roasted or salted nuts!

Oh Lovely Ribbon! I am so glad you are a nut like the rest of us here.

OH MY GOSH ARIJA! I LOVE LOVE Ferdinand Bauer! OMG! I need to get a Ferdinand Bauer folio for myself. YES! NOOOOOOOOOO! There is only one USED book at Amazon and it’s $750.00! And it's used! Oh Franz Bauer paints the most beautiful orchids. That's it I am going to be an oak painter. I will paint and draw nothing but oaks. I will master the drawing of oaks. I will do that. (I may change my mind after I submit this comment).

Thank you Mike.

Hello Pam, oh no! We don't follow the rules of day and night here. We could be up and we are asleep any time.

Rhonda! That is the best compliment ever!

Tessa! Imagine that your word is Tula, mine is Tulog! Does yours mean sleep? Mine does. Thank you. I am happy to see you.

Hah! My favorite pussy.

Quick Deborah! Send it to me before Marie snatches it!

Tammie, yes I do sleep, a lot actually.

Deborah, Supervisor is making you work hard this weekend! ACK!

Mary Ellen! Thank you for the heads-up. Wow! I’ll think of that most definitely!

Moonshadow said...

I like the acorns. I loved the oak trees at my former home. I just moved, no oaks here. I miss them.

Deborah said...

Good night my sweet. The supervisor has passed out from fatigue! Wee Pumpkin Man is still up for grabs. However, he has no nuts. Just spindly little legs.

La Donna Welter said...

It is so wonderful to meet you! : )

Tessa said...

Nuts, nuts, NUTS - all the whole crackin' lot of ya! HOOT! I've got a tummy ache from laughing....

Ces said...

Aimee dear! I missed you up there trying to be incognito. You lost your avatar for good? I love that you are a nut grabber.

I just had a scoop og Brazilian nuts. They are big. I prefer macadamia nuts.

Hello Moon, come out of the shadow and play!

Deborah, I am afraid I have never met a nutless pumpkin man, it will be my first if he ever comes this way, but first, does Milo have nuts?

La Donna, likewise!

Ah dear Tessa! Good morning. Yes I am afraid we lost it with this post. Nuts!
