Gemini

Woman In The Mirror Oil on canvas. 18"x24"

I seldom feel very attached to a painting but this one I love. I just love it, so I used this as my avatar for a while and it is hanging in my bedroom. I wanted to depict a woman with ambivalent and conflicting traits yet confident and whole. It is a very simple painting but I got attached to it.

  4. Hello, well who could blame you.

It is you Ces. All of the things you mention and complex too.

I laughed so hard at silently laughing as not to get the kids attention.

Do both your kids play the guitar or just your daughter.

    Love Renee xoxo

  5. Your work is so diverse...I'm thinking there's a dozen of you producing all this art???!!?? Seriously, your creativity soars!

  8. I can see why - with her direct gaze and full colorful presence! I sense complexity beneath the surface of what you describe as "a very simple painting".

To explain further - my pages are done in an altered book. I found a used book at a library book sale that I've turned into a journal, by gluing every 2 pages together I make them sturdier to work on, then I generally gesso them. All the pages on my blog are from that journal, unless otherwise mentioned. I describe the process more fully at the top of my side bar, where you can find a link to earlier posts with a video of me going through a spread of pages, too, if you're interested. Hope that helps :) Karin

  9. The two sides do not conflict. They make up a beautiful whole. Yin and Yang. I love this painting. It reflects your complexity well. Yet you are the dominant figure in the mirror -- shifted a little to the right, perhaps, but that's ok. I still love you. :)

  10. That is quadruple the fun Miladysa.

renee, only my daughter plays the guitar. She also played the piano but stopped. She's into drama now.

Yes, but what I would give to paint like you Sandy!

Yes, Baino, very berry red lipstick.

Hi Manon, welcome back. Did you have a good vacation?

Karin, now I get it. I saw one of those where they use old books to do their art. Very cool and looks like a lot of fun.

Bella, how do these words and sentences come to you so easily? A little to the right, hah!

  11. I've been backtracking on your posts and I am really beginning to like your style of painting. There is a story attached to each of your paintings and I like to do the same or at least recently I found that a short story with whatever I paint provides a more meaningful painting. As I said I will backtrack some more. Thx for sharing.
