Triskaidekaphobia!
.
They were going to celebrate her birthday. Everything was planned perfectly. Their director was out of town attending a conference and Sirhan will be in New York for the disaster recovery drill. There will be twelve of them. Then she came but instead of going into the room, she peeked inside. She was in shock! "Drats! Reza Sirhan! Why is he here? He is supposed to be in New York for the disaster recovery drill." I can't go in there." So she missed her birthday party. Everyone wondered what happened. They paged her, phoned her, emailed her. Everything was perfect, except for one little flaw, she has triskaidekaphobia, but she has no fear of heights or fear of falling!

Hi Ces. Huli ka! Saw this on top of the list.:) That's a very sad way to celebrate one's birthday. I think this happened to me but on a different occasion, good thing I wasn't the celebrator.hehe
I love how she seems to pop out of the illustration. Galing! Is this still part of the Illustrated Abecedarian?
Ingats!
Hello Bjornik! We must be blogging at the same time No, I am just making random illustrations now but maybe now that you mentioned it I may add this. Thanks.
Very cool illo!
I'll have to look that up.
Sometimes, I feel like my whole life is like that picture. Always on the outside looking in.
Ah, 13.
I get it!
Hello Mary, you were in my blog, while I was in your poetry blog!
Strange...
Yes, very strange Sidney.
Awww ... someone should tell her she doesn't look thirteen anymore *!*
No she doesn't look 13 anymore Bimbimbie but she would be the 13th person in the room if she comes in.
Silly phobias . .they stop us doing what we really want to do . . I don't think I have one except walking into any roomful of people by myself . .there . .now you know.
would not miss a party for ANYTHING. . . . except . . . lizards in the room, a huge dog in the room, and a frog! sad pic of a sad event - but youve captured it so well.
LOOK! I'M THE 13TH COMMENTATOR! Ooooooooooh.
Jeepers, Ces. How did she ever survive her 13th year?! Sad story, but gorgeous illustration. The feeling is so strong.
I hate parties. I especially hate parties held in my honor.
And YES, I'd love to trade postcards! Oh joy of joys!!!!!
Which is why I always carry a paper Rich in my pocket. Easily discarded to make 12 or easily retained to make 14.
ROFL! Oh, now I feel so much better, at least I dont have that problem! Very clever Ces :)
Thats me
oh too bad she missed her bday cake. maybe it was chocolate cake. btw pls send me your recipe for the brownie.
awwww so moving. and love your header too.
LOL at Bella's for being the 13th comment. Hmmmm... Today is the 31st, it's also 13 when reversed!:P
Will you be releasing a book soon Ces? With your illustration style, "soon" may come later. My A3 drawings take me 80-100hrs to finish by the way. How about yours?:)
Hello Baino. I don't think I have a phobia either. Mine are fear and anxiety from obvious causes. I don't like animals that crawl though and would be worried about snakes but they don't stop me from doing anything I love to do.
Lizards, frogs and big dogs oh my! Lizards, frogs and big dogs oh my!
Krissie, you and I
In the forest cannot walk by
together because we will cry
I am about to cry with this lousy attempt to rhyme, so never mind. You and I have the same "phobias" even though I said I did not have any.
Bella, if it is any consolation, I made it all up. You are my lucky 13the commenter. You are a star!
A paper Rich what a great idea. I should start carry a paper Ces or two! Hehehe. I love your new avatar.
Thank you very much Lavender. Glad I am able to cheer you up?
Graham you are thirteen? That's a tough age. Good luck.
B&B, it was chocolate and white cake and it was a full sheet. I will call you with the recipe. I love you B&B!
Thank you Soulbrush. That up there is Isabella Wellesley.
Bejornik, yes, what a clever commenter she is. Thanks for the info. It takes me between 32 to 48 hours to complete a drawing but that is because I don't know what to do most of the time and just go with the flow. I need to share how I make these drawings. The process does not make sense sometimes.
oh wow...wonderful work and a cool story....nothing would stop me on my Birthday!!! heheheh...which is today...
hugs
Diana
very clever, ces! :D
So very Gorey! Great stuff.
Happy birthday sweet Diana! Today is a beautiful day!
Hello Wolfie, thank you very much.
Hello Peter, thank you!
Ces, I love your black and white work! Great post.
Thank you Indegene! I have awards for you two posts ago.
I will meet you at the Thirteen Club on the 13th day on the 13th floor :) Love it Ces!
Haha! Same here! I thought I'm the only one who has this creative block. Sometimes I just stare at the unfinished drawings for hours. If I just know what to draw beforehand, then maybe I can do it half the time.:)
I wish I did not have to do anything else. I would prefer staring at the unfinished work rather than dusting or cleaning...
so good.
i love the number 13, but i certainly know how this woman feels. i actuallyleft my birthday party once.
Oh Chris, why!?
Love the drawing....and now I must go look that word up! ha.
i'm with bella! can't stand parties in my honor. that's why there was a skeleton crew only at my wedding. i have no issues giving speeches to large crowds, but when an event is planned around me? no way. nopartyinmyhonorphobia.
great drawing as always! and i thoroughly enjoyed the comment ping-pong over at bella's place.
