If I will let one activity define me, I am an oil painter.

Illustration Friday - Sour

The banana was unripe and bitter,
The chicken was half-cooked and meaty,
The wine was old and sour,
And I am out of ideas.
I think I'll light some Roman Candles.
.
Still life. Oil on canvas. One of my earliest palette knife paintings done in 1982 or was it 1983?

Colored pencil on 9"x12" Bristol Board.

Wait!

Update:

I can call this post "Sweet and Sour Chicken". What do you think?

(Although our grapefruits down here are sweet.)

love the colors and the flattened perspective of this piece! Delicious :)

Have fun Laughingwolf.

DigitalSctott, thank you.

Studio Lolo, flattened alright. I wanted it to look primitive. :-)

And I like the way you 'divided up' the page. Good colours.

Ces said...

Oh yes Connie, a little html knowledge is a dangerous thing :-)

no fun, but got coffee cream, 5# macaroni, beans, tomatoes, and some magazines; one on cars, other on special diets [lost 9# so far]

Ces said...

Yum yum including the car magazines. I went to the BMW plant in South Caolina and they had beautiful classic cars and a new one they built for only $92,000.00.

I like the idea of Sweet and Sour Chicken! Beautiful artwork Ces :)

Ces said...

Thanks Anon, old stuff. Still trying to get new things moving.

laughingwolf said...

nice, but the new z4 will no longer be made in s.carolina, the plant is to be moved back to germany....

Ces said...

Is that so? That's a shame. That is a nice plant in Spartanburg. It will cost even more so with shipping due to high gas prices.

sweet 'n sour chicken sounds perfect! :D

laughingwolf said...

yeah, no doubt

the plant stays, i think, but dunno what they'll assemble next

ha ha lovely illo, and great title too. often see your comments on different blogs, think it's time i 'connected' with you!

Ces said...

Ujwala, yes sweet and sour chicken is always good. Thanks for stopping by.

Laughingwolf, it would be interesting to know. I know that the plant supports the local economy. I wonder if they are laying off workers. This spring we could not tour because they were retooling.

Foreveryoung, thanks for stopping by. I have always loved your "Giggles" posts.

laughingwolf said...

i have no clue what's going in there next, but retooling suggests it will keep most folk employedcovfikz

Hope you enjoyed the roman candles!

Ces said...

Laughingwolf, okay. I took away the word verifier. I did not have it before then I got spammed when I posted the NYC tour series.

Val, I am so tickled everytime I see you here. Thanks.

Thank you Roberta. Are you allowed to light up firworks in your area?

you can filter all potential posts

i was told i had both verifier and screen in place, so got rid of the verifier... only one post so far i did not allow, some guy wanting to sell something, so i did not allow his post

Doesn't sound very appetizing to me. I ate out every day when I was in France. Only once I chose a restaurant where the quality was poor. I told them, or course.
Good paintings!
